Oh, this upgrade is for a 82 civic. Does any of this apply the the first generation civics? The front brakes on the early civics suck. Will the 84-85 Accord brakes fit on the 76-79 civics without modification?

ok so no cailper mounting brakets cool thanks

NO.
You have an 82 Civic so you only need 84-86 Accord rotors and calipers OR 88-90 CRX CALIPERS (still with the Accord rotors). You cannot use the CRX rotors as they are the wrong depth. You do NOT NEED any kind of adaptor brakets.
The CRX and Accord calipers are similar (you will probably find some Civic and possibly Integra calipers that are also very similar), they just take different shape pads. Use whichever you can find.

We're talking only a caliper and rotor change here, nothing to do with the strut or how it mounts.
Incidently the brakes from an '82ish Accord will also bolt straight on but are smaller than the later Accord.

adrian when you change the brakes like with that conversion, can you now use a newer strut?

What 88-91 model? I KNOW that the 84-85 Accord rotors are the right depth and that Accord and CRX calipers will fit. Here is an 84 Accord rotor and 89 or 90 CRX caliper on an EN1 (82 I think) upright with NO modifications to the upright, rotor or caliper:
Other models may fit. You just need to find a rotor the right depth.
You can see the dimensions of the Accord rotor here.

what mods do u have to do to use 88-91 rotors and calipers also what about 99 civic rotor and calipers
By Adrian (Evocivic) (141.168.18.114) on Monday, August 09, 2004 - 08:39 pm: |
No. The Accord rotors are larger diameter and thicker (vented). You could also use 88-91 CRX and some Civic calipers. Basically look for any model that has 242mm rotors and the calipers should fit. You need the '84-85 Accord rotors as they are the right depth.
You can probably graft some Accord or Prelude disks on the rear. Never done it so not sure exactly what parts you'll need.

By Adrian (Evocivic) (141.168.18.114) on Sunday, August 08, 2004 - 09:29 pm: |
Buy some 85 Accord Rotors and calipers (front) and just bolt them on.
