79 accord valve seals for a 1751 worked on my 78 1488 motor, you can still get the valve seals from the local auto parts store....if you can not get them there I can still get them here at autozone. valve guides are are whole different ball game, I am pretty sure you can get them still but you better take it somewhere to have those installed.

OK. I think I will try a later 1488 with a 4 port. Emphasis on TRY.

The main difference between the '75 and '76 CVCC heads is the exhaust ports though. The '75 has a four-port exhaust, while the '76+ CVCC's have a two-port. You might be able to use the '76+ head if you use the '76+ exhaust manifold.

You might check with the local parts house and see if they will let you check the bolt hole locations on that '75 CVCC head vs. the '76 and up versions. I know the valve layout is different. Just lay out a packaged head gasket on the counter and measure the distances between the holes. Might save you some time and trouble.

Well, you'd need the whole head off a non-CVCC car. I think the only cars that got the non-CVCC head in North America were the Canadian Wagons and Accords. I doubt you would be able to get parts for the Canadian heads in California too.
They pop up for sale every once in a while on the board, or you could post a wanted ad for one. Maybe someone in Canada would be able to grab one from a wreckers.
If you want, I have a complete gasket set for a '75 CVCC, it should have all the seals that you need to get the head working again. I'm not sure about the valve clearances, though. Maybe you'd need new rocker arms, or just tighten up the stop nuts a little more on the adjusters?
It depends on what your budget is too, it might be cheaper to get a rebuilt head from an auto parts place.

Its the seals. And I cant get the valve clearances to stay.
So a CVCC head needs non-CVCC components? I am in California, so will any 1488 work do you think?
Ill just match up the flow holes. thanks

Should be a bolt-on from a Canadian Civic. You'll need the head, intake, carb, exhaust manifold, etc. The CVCC stuff is more of an emissions and fuel economy device than something that makes the engine run. If you're asking about the newer 1488's, like the mid-80's, I have no idea, but I wouldn't think that the heads would interchange. What's bad about your current head? Valve seals and the like, or is the casting cracked?

Can I bolt on a non CVCC 1488? My head is bad on my 75 CVCC, and I have a few 1488's that I think might work. Does my Civ NEED to have the CVCC valves? Any other ways to add a working head?
thanks fellas
