Shea,
Yep...I'm the one who got the green one from Colin. As you can see from this post I have got the trans swap done, deluxe gauges back in, working on some other minor stuff (wheel cylinder) before I get into the cosmetic body work. Got the safety and plates on it today.
I'm in Brampton and have no problem with a sawzall. The parts car has had some not so good body work on the rear quarters (I'm keeping the front driver's quarter).
Check your e-mail and we can work something out.
Corey

Corey S,
Are you the fellow who bought the green Hondamatic from Colin? Nice little car, got yourself a score!
Since you mention you have a parts car, I'm in need of some body pieces...stuff that I CANNOT find locally in the wrecking yards.
Unfortunately, the sheetmetal parts I'm in need of will require some cutting done to your old shell, but I would be more than willing to come in to the city with a sawzall and have at it if you have what I'm in need of and are willing to part with it for a reasonable sum.
Whereabouts in T.O. are you, anyhow? You can contact me at the following e-mail addy:
sheaman71@hotmail.com
Thanks in advance for any help you might offer.
Regards,
Shea (and Crusty, too)

"the engine doesn't care what is connected to it, therfore no problem from the engine side."
that's pretty much what i thought. new question, i went to the 'pull a part' lot today and found plenty of honda cvcc's and newer civics. what year and model should i buy to make sure they will swap? again mine is a 1500 79 wagon. i found a sexy little two door, 1300 i believe. it was in good shape for the junk yard, had a sunroof and no body damage. is $325.00 american a resonable price?
thank you so much.

Well...it took me a couple of days but this was my first swap
To Adrian's point, the engine doesn't care what is connected to it, therfore no problem from the engine side. I recommend getting a parts car that has the tranny and linkages in it that you want. From the parts car you will need the tranny, the brake and clutch pedal assembly (and clutch cable), and the shift linkage. It is really quite simple as everything is bolt on between the auto and manual.
I recommend getting the "how to keep your honda alvie" book as it walks you through the tranny removal and installation procedures in great detail. I bought it used off Amazon a while ago for $20 canadian.
Good luck!

Hondamatic is Honda's version of an auto (semi auto actually).
Your 'everyone' has no idea what they are talking about.
Take the old gearbox, torque converter, pedals and shifter out, bolt the manual flywheel/clutch, gearbox, pedals and shifter in. One day job.

when you say you put a 5-speed in a hondamatic, does that mean automatic? i have a 79 cvcc wagon that came with an automatic which i would like to turn into a manual transmission. everyone i speak to says this can't be done without major mods to the engine. is this true?

Problem solved!
Today the reverse lights worked. Turned out to be a inconsistant contact at the connectors under the hood (stupid rust). Cleaned the contacts and all is now well.
Anyone have a 5 speed emblem that they are willing to part with?

I need a driver side window regulator, a chrome headlight ring, and a reverse light, front an rear bumpers in good (non-bent/dented) shape. This is for my 77' civic.
email me at rocketttman@rocketmail.com if you have anything for sale.

Well, I have had a productive couple of days and have managed to get the transmission from my non-runnning junker parts car into my 79 1200 Hondamatic. It turns out the parts car had a 5 speed in it after all, which I was very happy about.
All is running well with the car now, however, I have no reverse lights (and they were working with the hondamatic). I have hooked up the reverse light wires from the trans to the harness under the hood (by the starter). I also swapped the 2 2-wire green and black connectors by the fuse box (so the car would start...thanks Randy!) and I disconnected the 2 hondamatic shifter connectors.
I started to trouble shoot and put a meter on the trans switch. It looks good (open when its supposed to, closed circuit when in reverse).
Is there another connector somewhere that I need to hook-up?
Thanks in advace,
Corey
PS - As I mentioned earlier, there is a parts car in my garage...if anyone is interested or needs something let me know (I'm in the Toronto area).
