Wow, I didn't know you could take the ribs out of the hondas. I'll have to get one from the wrecking yard tomorrow and modify it for my N600 console. I like the N600 console cause it's smaller, cuter and more rare. No clock, but it still looks good. I'm missing the light cover, so that'll be a tough one to find. Wish me luck and thank you so much for that photo example, a picture is worth a thousand words.

I modified a picture of my roof to demonstrate what to do. This is not the exact location as you are going to have to figure out exactly where to put it.

Yep, extra rib, seam all the same thing to me. I still have the extra rib but no photos.
Check the photo to give you an idea on how it mounts in the stock location and just apply it to an extra rib in the forward location.
Instructions
When you go to the wrecker get the rib where the dome light goes.

Everyone keeps talking about an extra rib, what is that? Do you mean the metal seams that run across the roof? Do you have any photos of this rib or set-up you had on your old car? Thanks for your help

You need the extra rib for the roof to mount it in front of the stock location. I went to the wrecker and used a wood chesel to get it out then you should use some kind of body sealer to help mount it. You might have to add a bit of sheet metal to the ends.

I had the same console and sold it when I found the proper one.

I just got this overhead console that I won on ebay. It's for a Honda Z600, but I read somewhere on here that they can be adapted to the Civic's. Anyone know how to do this, since the z600 console is alot shorter and it won't match up with the dome light? I'll post photos later. Thank you.

Well I guess Im lucky. My console looks like new and the clock even keeps good time. It was picked up at a flea market years ago from a guy that had it new in the box but his car got totaled so he sold it for 50 bucks.
