Sorry. I should have said that I am currently running an EL with electronic ignition .If I have to swap back to a 1200 I was hoping to use the EL distributor. I guess I will have to get an EN distributor.
Thanks for the info.

Yes, but not everyone has access to those engines. For instance, EN1's were offered in Canada, but not in the US.

aren't the EN distributors a direct swap?

Glen, I believe you will find that the dist. from any of the cvcc series engines has a longer shaft from the mounting plate to the gear than the 1200 series. Therefore it will not directly interchange. If your looking to change to electronic ign. it can be done with some work on changing the contents out. Or just get one of the aftermarket (Pertronics?) kits.

Going by this image someone else posted ages ago, it isn't a direct swap.
I wasn't 100% sure what that last bit of handwriting said so I didn't type it out. Any ideas?

Will a distributor from a 79 accord (EL) fit straight into a 1200 without any modifications? Or would it be better to find a 2nd gen distributor? Thanks

Thanks H,
Actually, both of my black wires had yellow stripes, so I hooked them both up to the positive terminal on the coil and it started and ran fine.
Thanks for your input!!

One wire should be black/white the other black/yellow.Leave out the black/white wire.

I just found an 82 Accord today and bought the distributor, ignitor and coil from it including all the appropriate wiring back to where it joins into the harness for my 78 CVCC. I hooked up the wires as they appeared, with the exception of the black/yellow main wire that went to the ballast resistor, it appears to be a split wire from the main harness, I hooked up one, but not the other. The car will turn over and fire until I release the key and then it quits. Do I have to hook up that other black/yellow wire to something or do I have another problem??
Any help from the guys who have done this swap before, or anyone else for that matter, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Colin
