I have an oil cooler on my car and had to relocate the filter. The only place we could put the filter was under the drivers fender infront of the tire.

Is that possible, as to say that it'll keep Your engine's oil running cooler?

I was always thinkin of using my auto rad as an engine oil cooler by purchasing an oil filter relocation kit and putting the hose after the oil filter through the rad and back to the engine. Would this work? Or is the diameter in the rad's auto cooler piping too small?
Cheers

DaRK,
What does the small radiator look like? Is it a long round tube with fins around it (circular) or is it rectangular. Does the regular radiator have the cooling ports in the bottom that went to the auto trans? Which civic do you have? Which year?
The long round one was installed for cooling the power steering fluid and was pressurized by a pump that was part of the speedometer gear. It should be almost as long as the radiator is wide.
If it's rectangular, there's no telling what it went to. If there's no adapter at the oil filter site (for a cooler), it's probably an auxiliary cooler for the long gone auto.
The oil cooler that was stock on the '79 - '82 Accord/Prelude's was installed vertically alongside the radiator (driver's side) and could have been retrofitted for almost any reason.

it prob. could be... cuz my "box" has one of the emblems that say Hondamatic , but Prev. owner changed the trans.

the oil cooler was normally about 2 to 3" wide and like 10" long. (the one I have is) and it connected to two ports under the oil filter. so it was possible that maybe the motor was changed and the ports had not been added to it. does not look hard to add the ports for an oil cooler, but looks like it would be much easlier with the motor already out.

Could it be an auto transmission cooler rad?
