Coolent on your belts can make a noise that sounds like a rod knock when you rev the motor. try hoseing the front of the motor off ...need I say let it cool first... Then let it dry off and try it then... if you are lucky...

You have a '75, right? I've got an extra gasket set for a '75 if you need it. I've got a '79, and some of the gaskets are different. If you want it, lemme know.

I pulled each plug wire, but it sounds the same. Kinda sounds like a muffled valve knock. Time for a rebuild.

Pull the plug wire on that cylinder while the engine is running. If the sound goes away, that's bearing clearance issues/rod knock.

I installed a new headgasket. Car runs smooth, very little smoke, but it has a loud knocking sound. I adjusted the valves and they are quiet. Sounds more deeper in the engine.
How can I tell if it might be a rod?
