The one on my car came from a 1st gen Accord. Looks factory, unless you look really closely. I had a small hole to cover where my Grandfather put a different kind of hood ornament on the car back when he first bought it, and I thought the Accord one looked pretty good. Here's a (slightly) better shot of the hood:

yeah, i saw one once with a little plastic "H" ornament on the hood. it looked stock, but it could of been homebrew.

Hey Guys...I didn't know Our cars had hood ornaments... :S

Just got back from the show, some pretty neat cars there, one other 1st gen (Ken's). Some pictures:
Would anyone be up for another meet later this summer?
By Jonathan (68.193.6.173) on Tuesday, May 17, 2005 - 06:53 pm: |
Roger, that's no problem, family first. I wouldn't want to subject a baby to that either. I'll give you a call when I'm leaving Carlisle, it depends on what time it is if I can make it to your house on the return trip. Hopefully I won't be running too late.
By Zippy (Zippy) (12.106.14.107) on Tuesday, May 17, 2005 - 12:09 pm: |
I can't go to the show. My wife is working on Saturday and I can't subject the baby to 5 hours in the car unless it's absolutely necessary, and this is optional.
Jonathan, I'll be home so you can swing by my house on the way back and pick up your parts if you want.
Let me know.

Well, the show is this Saturday, and the weather so far looks clear. If anyone is still up for a caravan, I'm meeting with Ken in the Allentown area at around 8AM, which means leaving the North Jersey area around 6:45. If you want to join in (make it a 3-car trip - or more, more is good too), best bet would to call me on my cell phone - (973) 610-4586. E-mail'll work too. I'll post pictures of the event on Sunday!

Bringing this to the top again, the show is in about three weeks. Anybody else in? I'm all registered!

Hey guys-
I REALLY need 1 good example of a 1st gen to show at a REALLY big auto show here in suburban Detroit. Eyes on Design -Grosse Pointe
I have been posting the details and requests all over the net. It would be awesome to see some of these cars show up in the lot. We are coordinating a Datsun club event/meet at the same show. The theme this year is International Design.
We have Japanese cars making their debut in this show. I would love to show one of your 1st gen's there.
Is anyone mildly interested?
Dan

Got my flyer in the mail today for Import Carlisle. Admission to the show field is $15, covers 2 people plus your car. This price is good until April 29, after that it is $25 per car. You can register at carsatcarlisle.com
I'm still up for a caravan down Rt 78 on Saturday morning. Hopefully the weather won't suck.

I'd love to visit again Roger. I had a good time. Unfortunately I'm a few thousand miles away now....soaking up the sun. I hope you guys have a good time.

Hi Jonathan,
Just might be up for a trek to Carslile with my Civic ... will keep checking this link as the time gets closer. AD
By Zippy (Zippy) (12.106.14.107) on Wednesday, March 23, 2005 - 11:19 am: |
Carslile is a straight shot out the Turnpike from my place. I'll meet ya'll there, or maybe you may want to meet at my place. Unfortunately, Zippy will be in continued suspended animation.
By Jonathan (12.98.156.194) on Wednesday, March 23, 2005 - 10:32 am: |
Roger, good to hear you're interested. Is Zippy going to be up and running for May?
Here's what I was planning - meeting somewhere in Northern NJ at around 6:30 Saturday, May 21st. Caravan out to Allentown area to meet up with anyone coming from PA, should be there at around 7:45. Head to Carlisle from there. Sound good to everyone/anyone?
By Zippy (Zippy) (12.106.14.107) on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 - 11:28 am: |
I'm interested.
By Jonathan (68.193.6.173) on Monday, March 21, 2005 - 07:18 pm: |
Well, it looks like Saturday may be the best date for people to make it there, what time was everyone going to aim to get out there?
I guess posting cell phone numbers would be the best way if people are going to be coming from too many directions to get a caravan going?
Joel, would you be willing to make the trip out to Carlisle in your CVCC? I was planning on leaving my house around 6:30-7 Saturday morning. Would you want to take the trip out together? Maybe meet up with a few other people on the way?
By joel iverson (138.89.89.29) on Monday, March 21, 2005 - 05:50 pm: |
I am in Red Bank NJ and would like to be at a NE meet if it happens. I have a 1978 cvcc. Joel

For Import Carlisle, flea market is Friday / Saturday, but the car show is primarily on Saturday. Very few flea market guys are selling Honda parts, but once in a while I'll get lucky.
I'm going there both days, but I'll probably take the 04 Civic on Friday on the 75 Civic on Saturday.
By shreck (24.112.121.191) on Tuesday, March 01, 2005 - 08:29 pm: |
Hey Jonathan
If they get the Fast Ferry service going again from Toronto to Rochester in time some of the guys from around here could save about 4 hours off the trip one way. I can't committ cause my car needs a bit of work to be done and I will be lucky to get to it by the early summer.
By Jonathan (68.193.6.173) on Monday, February 28, 2005 - 03:45 pm: |
Just thought I'd throw up the web site for the Carlisle car show: http://www.carsatcarlisle.com
Anyone else who's going, which day is best, Friday or Saturday (20th or 21st)?
By Jonathan (68.193.6.173) on Sunday, February 20, 2005 - 07:39 am: |
Hrm, I was thinking about heading to the Import Carlisle too! Where in Allentown do you live? The only area I'm really familiar with is near the Agricultural Hall Complex. I think a convoy would be great! It would probably be best to meet up in Allentown, going to Carlisle from Northern NJ would pass right by Allentown.
Anyone want to have the whole 1st gen meet at the Import Carlisle show?
By Ken (24.115.3.161) on Saturday, February 19, 2005 - 03:04 pm: |
I'm taking my 75 CVCC to Import Carlisle on Saturday May 21. I'm in Allentown PA and would be happy to join anyone for a convoy down Route 78.
A meet in western New Jersey also works for me. Pick a date and I'll try and make it.

Ok, I figure it's not too early to dig this thread up again. The nice weather today got me thinking about a meet again. I figured I'd throw a date out there, and some that I know aren't going to be good for me. If anyone else wants to chime in to a weekend that's not good/is good, please be my guest.
I was thinking Saturday, May 14th. I know I'm busy the 15th, 21st and 22nd, as well as April 17th, 23rd, 24th. If April/May are too early, I'm free every weekend in June so far except the 9th-11th.
If others post good and bad dates, maybe we can narrow this down to a specific weekend that's good for everyone.

Colin, when do the roads clear up by you to the point you're willing to drive your Civic? I figure the salt'll recede last by you.
Also, I'm meeting another 1st gen enthusiast (I haven't seen him post on this board, though) this Saturday at noon for lunch. We're probably meeting at the Tick-Tock Diner on Rt. 3 in Clifton, NJ
Tick-Tock Diner
If anyone wants to meet there, I should be there unless something badtm happens.

I would be interested in meeting next year, it's been busy this year otherwise I would have loved to attend.
By Jonathan (68.193.6.173) on Tuesday, October 12, 2004 - 07:10 am: |
Hrm, it's looking like this year might not be good for too many people, so far I've got 1 person who can come. Would it be better for everyone to have a spring meet? If so, when do the roads get clear enough to drive by you? Down here they're fine by mid-April, sometimes sooner.
By Jonathan (68.193.6.173) on Saturday, September 25, 2004 - 07:17 am: |
As of now, the meet is still on, I'm just nudging this to the top to see if there's anyone else out there that might want to come.
Also, I was thinking about having it at a park instead of my house, because at my house you'd have to park in the street, at a park it could be in a parking lot. Anyone think this is a good/bad idea?
By Jonathan (68.193.6.173) on Monday, September 13, 2004 - 07:01 pm: |
Andy, I sent him an e-mail earlier today. He was planning on stopping by when he brought his daughter down to college in Long Island, but the traffic that the NYC area can get made him run too late.
Anyone else out there, or got any ideas for what to do other than eat burgers?
By AndyD (67.242.197.128) on Monday, September 13, 2004 - 06:16 pm: |
Jonathan,
Should try emailing Wilbur up by me ... Might want to post on 1st gen site too for added exposure.
Later,
AD

That's cool, the more the merrier. If there gets to be a large number of people, I can always find a place like a park to have a cookout or something. I doubt we'll get that high, though.
By AndyD (67.241.174.65) on Friday, September 10, 2004 - 09:29 pm: |
Hi Jonathan,
If I can make it, my buddy has expressd interest in attending too. He no longer has any Civics, but is a fan of the 1st Gens. I'd be bringing my Civic! Later AD
By Jonathan (68.193.6.173) on Friday, September 10, 2004 - 02:59 pm: |
Ok, cool! Andy D from MA said he might come, depending on his schedule. Who else is out there?
By Zippy (Zippy) (12.106.14.107) on Friday, September 10, 2004 - 02:55 pm: |
I'll come but Zippy is hibernating. That makes 1 car in attendance.

Oh yeah, and don't feel limited to being in the Northeast US and owning a 1st gen Civic. If you want to make the trip down from Canada, you're more than welcome! Also, if you own an Accord, 2nd Gen, or even like the 1st gens, you'd be welcome too.
By Jonathan (68.193.6.173) on Thursday, September 09, 2004 - 08:54 pm: |
Hey all, I was seeing a few other posts about people getting together in other parts of the US and Canada, but not too much in the Northeast US. Would anyone be interested in a get-together before the winter hits and salt starts getting everywhere? I'd volunteer my house, there's a great grill for burgers and such, and plenty of parking. I'm about 20 minutes directly west of New York City.
I wasn't thinking about anything formal, no trophies/scheduled events, but maybe I could manage to print out some certificates or something for a few categories.
If anyone is interested, I was thinking the 2nd/3rd Saturday in October. Post your can/can't make it's here, or suggestions for different days/activities that can happen. There's not too much in the way of racetracks or anything near my house, unfortunately.
If you want to know how long it'll take to get here, you can put in your location into yahoo maps and use North Caldwell, NJ 07006 as your destination. Yahoo seems to work pretty accurately, at least for me.
