Finaly got my rotors installed. I also picked up 1979 Accord calipers at the wrecking yard. It ran me $35.00 for both calipers. It was so easy to intall them. Two bolts to take them off and one for the hose. I recommend anyone with a 1976-1979 Wagon with original rotors to upgrade ASAP. Very easy to do and better braking power.

Wow, just found this great web page that keeps some old adds from Honda. Pretty neat stuff.

I got the rotors, I'm stoked. Also picked-up a webber base assembly that I needed for my webber carburetor. Someone mentioned to me on this web page that I can use 77-81 Honda Accord calipers. Anyone know if this is true? I'd love to have more gripping power.

Thanks for the tips guys. I always check Ebay on Sundays for the new posts. Looks like there's several folks out there that need these......... we'll see who wins the auction in a few. Thanks again for the heads up. I noticed that I lost the weights from my wheels, so that could be causing the unbalanced feeling. I also don't have a torque wrench, so I don't know how tight the lug nuts should be. I think this could have also contributed to warping the rotors. Last thing I want is a wheel to come off while I'm driving, so I torqued down with my weight on those suckers.

Well, since I can't get any new rotors, looks like I'll have to re-surface mine. At least it's only going to cost me $10.00 each at my local machine shop and they can get them done in about an hour. I'll keep looking though, one day I'm going to need them.

Just my luck, that guy doesn't have any more rotors for the wagon. Looks like I'll have to keep searching. Thanks for the tip Jonathan

Jonathan, thanks for the big help. AGAIN. I contacted this seller and I hope he returns with a couple of them for me. Anyway, I'm keeping my fingers cross.

Wagon rotors ARE different, at least for the 76-79 models. Here's the link to what I bought:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7914079787

The guy was selling some other Honda parts, you can e-mail him to see if he's got more.

By sony (172.140.180.91) on Friday, March 25, 2005 - 08:51 am:

ve seen front rotors for Hatchback Civic's, but I've read somewhere on here that Wagon rotors are different from hatchbacks. If they are not different, then I'll buy them on Ebay. Thanks for the tip on the accord calipers. That sounds like a better idea. Anything that can help me stop faster and better is a big benefit. Thanks again for the tip Jonathan

By Jonathan (68.193.6.173) on Friday, March 25, 2005 - 07:18 am:

Sony, check e-bay. I just picked up a set for $14.99 a side last week.

If you find a 1st gen Accord parts car you can get the front calipers off that, I've been told it's a straight bolt-on with the wagon rotors. There's more pad area on the Accord calipers, you'll get better stopping power.

Remember, when you change your rotors, you need a press to get the bearings out. Don't risk re-using pressed on bearings, you don't want to re-do all the work in a few hundred miles.

I'm also looking for new 1978/1979 Honda Civic CVCCC Wagon front Rotors. OEM would be the best, but if they are new and after market, that would be ok. I'm getting ready to replace my brakes and I'd like to install new disc's/Rotors for my wagon. Thank you.

My wagon finaly got a 5speed trany installed. What a pleasure it is to have that extra gear. Three extra gears in my case since I had an automatic. I got 175 miles on half a tak of gas. I love driving my wagon even more that I don't drive my lexus that much. Anyway, if anyone is interested in a swap, there's a 2nd 5 speed tranny in San Diego that I found, it needs to be pulled out, but I would be more than happy to refer you to my Honda Master Mechanic that owns his own Honda Auto Repair Shop.

Finaly, got the grill painted white. The car gets stared at all the time. Specialy when I'm at a Starbucks or driving in the #1 lane for the freeways.

Ok, at least I know now from all of you that I should stick with 195/60-13 from tirerack.com I was thinking of getting my wheels power coated white, not sure still, devating.....

By bruce (66.20.225.143) on Thursday, February 24, 2005 - 10:12 am:

sony...205/60r13's will rub, I had to put a set on the back of my sedan and every bump they rubbed, I have 195/60r13's on the front, I will take a few pics today after work and post them. I do have the 205's an the rear again, but I put a set of front springs on the rear.

By Jonathan (12.98.156.194) on Thursday, February 24, 2005 - 09:29 am:

Nah, no spacers, no flares. The wheels are aftermarket Panasports, 13"x5.5", but I'm not sure of the offset. One other set of the optional alloy wheels I have are the same diameter and width, but I can't compare offsets until the snow melts here (supposed to get another 5-8 inches today too).

Here's the best picture I can find right now (I'm at work, I don't have other pictures of my car here). I'll see if I have some more when I get home, or if I lost the pictures I had in a computer crash.

By sony (68.7.165.149) on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 - 11:53 pm:

I figured you'd need some kind of spacers to offset the wheel. I know that I'm cutting it realy close with stock steel wheels. The optional aluminum wheels are off-set out from the car more, so I can probably get away with 205/60-13 Sure wish I could mount one up before I purchase all 4 of them. Post some photos when you get a chance, I'd like to see your flares.

By Jonathan (68.193.6.173) on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 - 02:16 pm:

I don't have any rubbing problems with the 205's, but that may be because of the wheel offset and stock ride height. I don't think I can get away with lowering the car at all. When the snow clears here, I'll take a wheel off to get the exact backspacing measurements for you, as well as some pictures of how it sits in the wheelwell. I've also got a CVCC hatchback, which has a different rear suspension than the 1200's and wagons. It does not look like I'd have enough clearance to go any wider without flares or something, though.

I knew about tirerack.com, I was just hoping someone would want to get rid of their low profiles tires from here. Wishfull thinking I guess. Wait, did you say 205/60-13.... won't those tires rub against the strut or wheel well? I have 185's and I thought 195 was pushing it.

By Jonathan (68.193.6.173) on Tuesday, February 22, 2005 - 02:47 pm:

You can get them from tirerack.com. I got my 205/60-13's from there, and at the time they had the 185 and 195 widths too.

By sony (68.7.165.149) on Monday, February 21, 2005 - 09:26 pm:

Anybody know where I could get a good deal on low prifile 13" tires for my wagon? I need at leat 185/60-13 but would prefer 195/60-13. I need these tires before I lower my wagon, otherwise the tires will be rubbing all over the fenders.

By sony (68.7.165.149) on Monday, February 21, 2005 - 09:14 pm:

So does anyone have any ideas for some side and rear skirts?

By sony (208.54.15.129) on Monday, February 21, 2005 - 03:34 pm:

$300.00 will get you the same flares as my wagon. Do you have a wagon Juan? You could fit these on a Hatchback also, but I'm not sure how they would look yet. I do have paypal, dentalrepairs@aol.com
that's my account name and address. It would take two weeks to get them to you. I could meet you up in L.A. for delivery also.

This other guy with a Civic Hatchback that I met at the wrecking yard refered me to auto shop. His car looked very sweet, but I didn't have my Digital camera :(

By sonymmx200 (68.7.165.149) on Saturday, February 12, 2005 - 09:40 am:

I have dropped a Civic before, it looked nice, but I had to have low profile tires, like the 185/60-13 by Sumitomo. Right now I'm going to wear out my 185/70-13 and then I'll but my low profiles. As for dropping it, most likely won't happen till I get the tires. The Kamei air dam was purchased for $200.00 on Ebay. It was mean for a Honda Accord CVCC. I just trimmed the sides cause the tires were hitting the ends. The flares were expensive, $300.00 for a set of 4 and basicaly, I went to a custom shop out here in San Diego where they fix up Toyota's, Nissan's and Honda's. Flares and Dam will be painted white soon.

By Jarcaf (Jarcaf) (207.55.238.216) on Saturday, February 12, 2005 - 02:22 am:

Those are pretty nice looking. Are they meant for a VW/Toyota/Datto, or are the meant for Honda? Did you cut up any of the stock metal behind it?

p.s. Are you thinking of dropping it a little, at least in front? I think that would help w/ the appeal of the airdam/foglights/flares, but that's just me.

By John Le (Lilbucu) (24.19.198.100) on Friday, February 11, 2005 - 04:06 pm:

very cool, where did you get those flares and lip spoiler from?

Has anyone tried making/fitting fender flares in the rear for a wagon/sedan/4-door. I want to flare my rears doing a custom fiberglass or salvaged VW flares, but the problem with the rears is that the door is so close. I've seen some body kits on other cars for this situation, but has anyone tried it with their 1st/2nd gens yet? I've got the 82 sedan by the way. Thanks in advance.
