If and ONLY if there is no damage to the crank, you can slap in some new bearings as a TEMPORARY fix. In that case, use std. aftermarket bearings, the cheaper the better. That way if you still have a knock or low pressure you are not out too much cash. To roll the bearing top half out, bend a cotter pin into a "T" and put it in the oil passage. Turn the crank and the bearing will rotate out. do the oposite to install the new bearing. This fix can sometimes last quite awhile depending on the crank wear. Don't forget to replace the thrust washers & rod bearings while you have the oil pan off.

its not that bad to get a crank ground and renritrited. i just had mine done (i have an EB2 with the 1488 cvcc bottom end) and it cost me around $300 us. the crank is now .020 under and i was told that bearings would be around $75 for rod and $75 for main bearings.

If the crank is scored or worn, throw it away and find a good one. You use undersize bearings with a ground down crank, not a standard crank. If the crank is good then use the numbers and letters stamped on the crank, block and rods to work out which colour bearings you need and get them from Honda ... be prepared to pay a lot for them though.

What if the crank is messed up? Then should I get it heat treated? If thats the case maybe I will just wait for my D series. To clear something up, ONLY if I do the crank do I use undersize bearings? Can I just replace all of the bearings? thanks for your help.

... yank the engine out.

Oh yeah, to answer the question, yes you can drop the crank out the bottom, but what a horrible job! It's probably faster and definitely easier just to jank the engine out and do it properly.

DON'T MACHINE THE CRANK. They are nitrided and very expensive to re-harden properly, not to mention the lack of decent undersize bearings. Use a good standard crank with Honda bearings.

I will be doing a ZC swap soon so I only need a temp. fix. I can hear my lowerend clackin. Not real bad, but sounds like the bearings. Was wondering if I could remove the crank and get it machined and reaplce the bearings. It may sounds dumb, but its worth a try. Otherwise I guess I could take the whole engine out and do the bottom end.
