I have no idea why, I just wanted to say that it seems to be a honda trademark. 98% of all wreckers I call say they don't stock anything honda for that exact reason.

I've noticed this as well. I've got a '78 4 door hatch and have been picking parts of other civics for a while and always thought that maybe there was something about my civic that was different/modified. I couldn't bring you any closer as to why though...

Ok maybe ive got this all wrong, but i thought that 2 EB3's both from 1979 (i think) should be pretty much identical. One of them is a 4-door hatch the other is 2-door, but apart from that i had expected them to be the same. In the process off swaping the engine from the 2-door into the 4-door i noticed a few things that were different, like different wiring on the engine. This caused a few headaches, but nothing major. Now ive got to finishing up and tidying everything up, i keep finding more and more things different, its really strange. One is the master cylinder on the 4-door is in the engine bay where youd expect it, on the 2-door it is not there, presumably inside. This leaves me with the problem that the 2-door's engine has no provision for the brake booster hose from the master on the 4-door! Where What should i do with it on the 4-door now (dont want to have to change intake manifolds if at all possible)? There are several other strange things such as the airfilter box being a different height and more that i cant be bothered boring you with, but the main question is WHY! Why would honda go to all the effort of making 2 cars identical in most respects, but change a load of completely unnecessary things?
