Yep another fuse was rotten to the core :P ugg.. I just went ahead and replaced them all. To get the headlights back on the night it stopped working, I replaced the voltage regulator fuse, not the headlight fuse (little hard to see in the dead of night with no cabin light which one was the headlight fuse :D) the lights came back on but the car wouldn't idle anymore.. the next morning I went and tightened the alternator belt and checked the fuse box.. the headlight fuse disentigrated in my hand :P I guess when the sunroof was leaking water got into the fuse panel. So I started pulling out other fuses and found two more with that problem. So now I have all new fuses and the car runs good again. Just thought I'd share..

It might have an idle solenoid that is powered by electricity. Check the fuses again and also power to the wire that connects to the carb.

With car off check the voltage at the battery, it should read about 12.5 volts. Start the car and check again, it should read about 13.5 volts. If there is no change in voltage then the alternator is not working (broken alternator, regulator, wires, fuse). If there is a voltage change, then it's good. If the voltage reads high you have a bad regulator.

It might be the regulator... too much voltage...

Boo.. I was driving my car tonight and all of the sudden the headlights lights went out. I changed the fuse and I had lights. I started the car and it started up and then it just stalled. So I gave it a bit of gas and it started right up. as long as I kept it just opened a bit, it would idle, if I let go of the pedal it would die. plus the car was surging slightly at speed though the acceleration seemed okay. Anyway, it got me home, but I don't know where to start.. I'm guessing it's the carb, fuel pump or the alternator, since the lights went out just before. It kept starting okay and the battery is only about 4 months old. Any other things people can think of? A cursory glance at 10pm at night in my parking lot has confirmed that the car isn't on fire, the battery connections are tight, and that the alternator belt is tight. Help!
