Very nice Shreck!! Very nicely done indeed. Makes the whole package really stand out.

I have 215-50 13" BF Goodrich RTA tires on 6" wheels and have no problems. It just depends on the wheels. I had 235-50 13" and had some rubing on the rear outer lip. I like the Sumitomo. They look good! I also made center caps for my other wheels using old Honda pistons and the centers out of the Accord wheels. I made them up on my lathe. No differnece in CVCC or 1200 in the rear.

Do the 205/60R13 tyres work without any clearence issues? And is there a difference between CVCC and 1200 in that respect?

These ones are 4x120 13x6 cheviot. It took a lot of elbow grease to get the outer edge polished and the minor dings out. The center area was sand blasted to get all the old paint off, this area is rough anyway so it does not matter about the type of sand used. The center was enlarged to allow for the Oem caps from the stock rims. :)

Server Hickup!

I finally got my tires mount on my restored rims; pick them up this morning after waiting 4 weeks to be shipped from Texas. I was pretty excited to see the car come around the corner with the nice new tires and rims. Now I just have to get my new CVCC shocks for the back installed!

I did the zip tie trick on my 82 sedan after i cut my fronts down 1.5 in. Won't be a problem pretty soon though. I scored some sweet B&G lowering springs on ebay. What a steal:)

Roger, I'm going to try to get hold of a set of wagon springs before I start to dig into the suspension. When I do get everything I need, I will give you a call though. How long do you think it would take overall? Is it a morning project, or a full day?

Jonathan,
Let me know if you need any help with the spring chop. Feel free to come down.

With stock springs (wagon springs up front) I was able to chop 1.5 inches in the front and 1.0 inch in the back with no clearance or rubbing problems even over big bumps and holes. Once you chop springs however, they will no longer be held "captive" by the spring perch and the strut hood. This can fixed in a number of ways, as I used zip-ties to hold things together.

Yeah, I did. Much better price than what I can get from a local store, even with shipping. They were in stock in a warehouse one state away, so they arrived the day after they were shipped. Now all I have to do is get some center caps :)

I can also see how much I'd be able to lower the car too. I didn't want to cut anything until after I got the new tires to make sure that everything would clear after the drop.

I have those tires, and I like them. They have a ton or rubber on them, so I doubt I will ever wear them out.

Did you get them at Tirerack.com?

By Jonathan (68.193.6.173) on Friday, October 01, 2004 - 01:22 pm:

The car feels quite different with the new tires, compared to the 15+ year old ones that were on there. I'm gonna feel much safer going onto the highway with the car now :)
Civic with new tires!

They're Sumitomo HTR200 205/60-13's.
