I THINK the 1500 "S" was available here until '86 or '87, right up 'til the end of the Gen III body style...I'm not totally sure though (after 30, the memory's getting a bit foggy at times :D). Colin (CVCCx2) would know for sure, he knows ALL the trivia...

Shea

it is the ew2. Yea...d-series would be the better choice here. Someones GOTTA do the d-series swap...and then get a turbo kit for the d16, easily available and massive power gains. Mabe if I blow up my healthy sb3, I'll think about it.

EM1 is just a bolt in if you don't mind not having the top firewall motor mount. If your putting it in a CVCC or 1500 with electric fuel pump already that's all you need. Take the three bold down pipe off any 80 plus civic and have it welded up and your ready to go. If you have an EGR mount just make a block off plate for it.

It is the 3rd gen Civic so it must be the ew2. I'll let him know what hes in for.
Thanks guys,
Colin

what year 1500S are you talking about. in canada they continued that badging till 84 or 85 because the fuel injected "Si" cars of that era were not available in canada.

Ahhh...so you just have to make that dogbone mount bracket, take off the mounts at the back of the engine and thats all there eh? Then custom exhaust and maybe a holley fuel pump...
They most likely have headers more easily available on the 1500S hopefully. Awesome! Hes gonna be happy.
Thanks lots Dave!
Cheers,
Colin

The mounts on the 1500S(EM1) are the same as the 1335 (EN1).You did this swap in your car, right? A couple other things to consider are exhaust and fuel delivery.

How similar are the motor mounts on a 1500S? A friend at work just got a red 78 with a white stripe on the sides from north vanand he has a spare 1500S 5-speed, so it'd be a good choice to swap it in.
Cheers,
Colin
