Colin,
Was gonna e-mail you anyway, but since you've replied here...
The Accord shifter had a sort of "pregnant" bulge just above the shifter pivot ball, whereas the stock Civic shifter has a straight up-and-down shaft in this area. My fix was to grind and file away the bulge, leaving a straight shaft as on the stock piece.
The one stock lower dust boot I had was torn and became totalled when I disassembled the shifter assembly. I made my own piece up tonight using a dust boot off of an air brake slack adjuster from a Freightliner! God, I love scrounging the warranty return cabinet!!
Got any ideas for the front pivot, the one which attaches at the tranny? That's all that's left to finish off the shifter overhaul (except a wood knob! ;) ).

Shea,
No surprise, no-one answers my "simple" questions either.
I am sure that some one on the board knew the answer.
If I knew, I would have replied.

Never mind, I figured it out on my own. Thanks anyway.

I have a chrome shift lever from a 1st Gen Accord which I'd like to use in my Civic. Physically, they are identical EXCEPT the area of the stick just above the pivot ball. On the Civic shifter assembly, there is a plastic ring or donut which slides into the top, above the ball pivot and the C-clip which holds the pivot and ball into the shift assembly. Due to the larger diameter of the Accord shifter interferance occurs with this ring and full travel of the shifter isn't possible. I'm assuming this ring acts as a shift "stop" not allowing you to push the shifter too far into the gates, or gear mesh. Could I open up the hole in this ring to a larger diameter to allow the use of the Accord shifter, or is there another solution for this? The Accord 5-speed shifter has a totally different "stop" block, BTW.
Thanks in advance for any help you could offer.
