If it's just a crack, have someone weld it, if it's caused by rust, your better off replacing it. I experienced the same problem with one of my Civic's and only found it becuase I was installing a thicker sway bar. I was lucky cause I found a cross memeber in good shape from the wrecking yard and replaced it asap. There's no telling what damage or harm I would have suffered from this part failing. Good luck and fix that problem ASAP if you drive the car every day.

I need advice on obtaining a part for my '78 CVCC. Located cross-ways under the area below the radiator and just forward of the engine is a front beam. There is an engine mount attached to the upper side of this beam. The beam is attached at each end with bolts to what I refer to as the unibody of the vehicle. That beam has cracked significantly in several locations and, in fact, may be weakened to the point of failure if the car experiences a major jolt. Are new replacements available from some source or is my only option a used part from a parts car, junkyard, or whatever? Any detailed information would be greatly appreciated.
