Ya $200 is what I was originally quoted but I have heard of them being done for much less. I have a felling most guys forget how small are bumpers our when compared to the 70 muscle cars.

Yeah, I was wondering what happened to the plans before Christmas season. Well, after getting tired of waiting around...I went to "World of Wheels" show this weekend (somewhat less than last year, I think? ) and I found one ventor who does all kind of metal polishing and chroming in local Calgary.
I talked with the guy and he said I could get my Honda hub caps re-chromed at $15 each, each bumper at $200 approx and some assorted metal pieces (prices to be dermined). So, I'm looking in doing that next month or so - around spring time like that.
Maybe I could try like what you did, Kurt - another group for cheaper rate at different time? You'd be doing much sooner but I'd be doing much later.

I will need some chroming done on a few components for my S600, too bad I am in Ontario.

Time to revisit this thread since it died. It seemed it was a little close to Christams so I am bringing it up again. Hopefully it does not go the way of the last S&S run...
I am still looking at having both my bumpers done and maybe some small bits (unless its cheaper to buy new)
I also have a friend wanting 2 VW bug bumpers done and another one for a front bumper off a Road Runner as well as an aluminum intake off a Mustang (if they can do it). Thats 5 bumpers and some buying power but looking for more
Its for the greater Vancouver area so let me know. I am calling around on Monday and plan to take the stuff in to be done in about 10 or so days.

Kurt,
I think you could buy the door handles and trunk hinges from Honda cheaper than you can get someone to chrome them. Plus if my memory serves me correct the rear hinges are made of some kind of "Potmetal" this is difficult to re-chrome. It can be done...by someone who is equipped to do it, but not very many standard chrome shops are. I would try to source nice used parts, or find new ones...just my 2 cents... 200.00 to rechrome one of those bumpers? They better be using a rubber, and kissing you too.

Kurt, I may be coming to Vancouver for Christmas holidays. If you could give me an idea of when the chrome project would be, I can get the parts ready for shipping before I go there.
Maybe I can meet you up to talk bit more on that? Thks.
All parts for chroming are already removed from my car expect for one bumper to come that I'm waiting to get.

I'm thinking I may do a header, but it all depends on when you plan on getting this done? I need to get my engine back in the car so I can figure out if I have to modify the header to fit. But if your still phoning around, add that to the list and ask how much its gonna be. Thanks

Kurt, could you ask the chrome shops about what advice I should prep the bumpers for them? I can do some work (I'm a bodyman by trade and have tools at work) on my bumpers. I do remember that the old chrome have to be removed down to bare metal and smooth all surface over. Any dirt, rust or whatever had to be gone from the bumper metal. Was that right in my thinking?
Aside my bumpers, I would like my door handles and chrome trim pieces be done as well. I wonder about side markers - they're made of plastic but can they do that at the shop?
Thanks for any details...brb here

Okay so far we have two sets of bumpers, emblems (if doable) and Kyle...?
I have put aside about 4 different places and will call for some quotes once I have some more responses.
Puff, Elvis, Wilson, Peter, Fidel??? Justin, any of your friends looking to have their bumpers done?

Now there's a thought Don! Greed gets most people. It's a human flaw. I just paid almost 20,000 for a paint job on a shelby mustang, when it should have been about half that. The guy saw the rise in pricing on these cars and thought that he might get his share also.
It is very unfortunate that I am going to have to take time off from work to sue this guy.

Hmm maybe we should send the stuff to OZ The difference might be that they have to carefully remove the old chrome off the auto stuff but who knows. Maybe the few people in the US that do it are just greedy.

Chroming plastic is VERY Expenisive only a few places will do it. Its way cheaper to buy new emblems from Honda. Example a rechomed dash besel for a mid 60's chevy was over $500 US to have done

I'm looking at getting my bumpers, door handles and trunk hinges re chromed while the car is in storage over the winter.
There is a place in Vancouver that gave me a quote for $200 (Cdn) per bumper but I know it can be done for less. I'm looking to see who is interested in having some chroming done and I will try to work out a group deal. I don't mind doing the ground work or driving in the lot to have chromed. Not looking to make any $$ just trying to get the best bang for the buck.
Anyone interested let me know here and what you want done. I'll give it 30 days and in the meantime I will start making calls.
- Kurt
