It was late. Getting up in the morning and thinking for 2 sec about the size of a torque converter, then unbolting it and taking the gearbox off worked fine =P That and i had left the silly little bracket that holds the shifter cable, and that was making it twist forward as it dropped.

I never got that message. By uprights you mean knuckles? If so i am definately keen!

Colza, Put a jack under your oilpan,(need I say use a block of wood between them?) then loosen the crossmenber bolts and slowly lower the jack enough to allow you to snake it out. It should work. By the way I'm still interested in the Turbo intake manifold. Did you get my message about the wagon uprights I would be willing to swap you?

Hey. Well, its unbolted, and off the engine. But it doesnt quite make it off before hitting the chassis rail. My Haynes manual said i should take the torque converter off first, but that is such a hideous job i was hoping to get the box off first. Its only just touching the rail, should i just kick it down and see if i can get it to nudge underneath?

Its a Hondamatic with OD in an 81 civic. There is a 5 speed sitting here just itching to go in!
