EC is a 1488 iron block, non-crossflow alloy head engine; basically the same bottom end as the US cvcc just with a different head (without the cvcc stuff). EB3 is a 1238 all alloy with crossflow head. The EC has a bit more torque but the EB IMO is a better engine to play with due to its lighter weight and crossflow head plus more performance bits (if you can find them) were made for the EB.

recently found myself a cheap '75 1500 to donate bits and pieces to my '78 1200. I've been trying to find out how the two engines measure up against one another, seeing that they're both non-cvcc engines (as I'm in Oz). I searched the website but most of the info I can come up with concerns cvcc models. what are the major differences between the EC (if I'm not mistaken) and the EB3 in terms of engine construction and performance?
