Nope they are honda and only honda. Drive train.com blew me off twice... Never called me back. They are worthless but I will try calling one more time.

You know, I was driving down the street earlier today and thinking about this topic and it came to me that maybe those syncros are a generic item and might quite possibly be in other Japanese trannies of the same vintage front wheel drive cars. Maybe we need to try to source from one of our Japanese friends if any of them are privy to part catalogues such as our TRW or such. I'm starting to worry about little things like this pulling our cars off the road, just because Honda is too greedy, or too uncaring to support such a small group as we.
You would think that when you pull into a Dealership with a nice 20+ year old Honda you might recieve some sort of recognition other than them trying to sell you a new car. The bastards should be happy some of these old cars are still on the road and being driven by happy owners. That is the TRUE testiment to the quality and reliability they brag about, but rarely show they care about.

No, sorry, I've got no source for syncros :(. I know Honda used to sell them individually but I've never tried to get any and everyone I've ever spoken to has said Honda stopped selling them that way long ago. It's a long time since I last bought syncro kits from Honda (10 years or so) and back then it was about AU$300 for the two kits (1st-2nd and 3rd-4th). I've got a very small supply of new ones but I'll be using them very soon.

The honda dealer sells the sycros with some springs and other related parts. Its about $400 for the 1-2 and $400 for the 3-4. 99 for a set sounds much, much better if they are still selling them.
Dog boxes can be made for cheaper than that yahoo place sells them for but its still an expensive item.

would be nice, but hard to justify spending thousands...

when you say "assembly" do you mean basically the gearstacks or full transmission?

Don:

Have you tried drivetrain.com? Although they don't list a syncro kit for the 1st Gen (GB/GE), they do carry one for the 2nd Gen for $99.69. They may be able to help or suggest another supplier.

Hey Adrian I tried to e-mail you but the spamco filter? keeps kicking me back :)

I was wondering if you knew of any sources for syncros for the 1200 Hondas? Here in the USA the dealers want to sell you an "assembly" bottom line about $800 USD for smoother shifts from the dealer. That's why I have been using used transmission parts but it only lasts about a half season. The aftermarket guys in the USA threw away those syncros long ago. People that are really serious and if the rules allow it have a dog tooth transmission made up but I will have to save my pennies for that, but if I have to spend the dealer prices for syncros it wont take very long to pay for one.
