Thanks for your help. I live in Michigan and went to look at it in person. Lost the auction by a nose. I'm probably better off without a 75 CVCC

BTW, if the 74 CVCC you are refering to is the one on EBAY, then I would say that car was indeed a CVCC by the look of the front fenders.

I believe that the VIN should start out as:
SG A/C/D/E 1 ...
SG identifies it as a Civic CVCC.
A/C/D/E refers to the model designation (i.e. an SGA would be a 2DR, 4Spd Civic CVCC).
1 refers to the model year as 1975. So the VIN for a 2DR, 4Spd Civic CVCC would begin: SGA1...
Most likely the seller (on EBAY?) is just looking at the production date (which might be 11/74), which does not directly correlate to the model year. Another way would be to have the owner locate the emission tag under the hood- this would give you the correct info on the model, engine size/type, etc.

How can I decipher the 10 digit civic VIN. I have found what is supposed to be a 74 cvcc that I am interested in but I know american cvcc's are 75 and up. I would like to figure out more about the car before I go further. Thanks.
