I don't believe a vacuum sec. carb will ever open under boost if you use a blow through design. It will just pressurize the diaphragm and would actually hold it closed. You will need to modify the carb to mechanical design before it would work correctly.

oh, and just so the rest of you know. the canadian 84-87 non-cvcc carb is the same as the carb that was on my 82 EL1

there is a fellow in Richmond named Ed Lo who has looked into this with his 86 crx, the carb can be used in a blow thru setup with some mods. i don't remember all the details of what he was telling me but something about the design does allow it. he is currently toying around with different carbs and heads and basically tinkering with ideas but he can give you lots of stuff to think about. he also worked that vacuum secondary mod and it ran batter like that then the 4 barrel Holley he had on there for a while. if you go to www.redpepperracing.com (which by the way is a excellent site for 84-87 Civic/CRX, here at civic1200.com it's geared toward 83 and earlier civics.) and search for a user named eldo (don't worry, i didn't get it backwards, it is eldo) he's the guy.

Some back ground info:
I have an 86 civic wagovan and I'm in the Vancouver area. It came with a 1.5 carbed motor. I have since converted to fuel injection from an 87 crx si. I have a turbo now and would like to know if anyone has done a blowthrough setup with the stock keihin 2bbl carb or similar? The carb was modded so the vacuum secondary opens at ~2000rpm and it made a huge difference in power, it feels like it made more than the current f/i, but I'm not sure its running 100% correctly.
I like the cold starting with the f/i, but I miss the choke and clean engine bay. It is also so easy to turbo charge a f/i car and I want to learn how to do it with a carb.
Does anyone know in the stock kehin 2bbl what the thing is that is above the 2 jets in the float bowl, and runs to the top cover with a long spring around it? It seems very sticky on my carb.
Thanks
