I went over them a couple of weeks ago and most of them were junk. The only ones in working condition were a 1/2 hp gear reduction motor and a really old (WW1?) 1/3 hp unit.

He had the receipt!

Hey Zippy! I remember you had all those electric motors. I was just curious would your plans are. :)

I had a similar experience with UPS, but not USPS. UPS had a lawsuit against them because of the way they handled insurance claims. If something is breakable, have them pack it, or else they will blame you and your packing.

I'm not surprised about UPS parcel service...they're about the worst kind in custom fees and service in Canada. They love to slap us with HIGH fees - usually about 40 to 50 percent of parcel's face value most of times. I won't use them ever again.

I find DHL service to be really very good - no custom fees and they make fast deliveries! I've gotten my Honda parts from them all alright and none broken or damaged from them. I'm liking their services now! Plus, they do for reasonable prices.

With UPS the sender must make the claim, and UPS pays the sender if there is any settlement. As the receiver (e.g. Zippy), you need to convince the sender to make a claim in the first place, and then hope that they reimburse you once UPS pays them.

If the sender uses a shipping service (e.g. Mailboxes Etc.), then good luck. In my experience the USPS is slightly better than UPS if you want to collect on insurance. I've had no experience with FedEx.

I bought a 3 hp electric motor on E-Bay and when it got to me it was broken. USPS had dropped it or dropped something on it, and the capacitor housing was bent and the capacitor was broken. It is insured and has the insurance stamp on top of it. The $%^* woman at the post office would not talk to me because I don't have the original receipt. He has to mail it to me (ironic). If he still has it..... I just sent him an e-mail asking for it. In yesterday's e-mail he didn't say he had it and I'm inclined to think he does not. We'll see... I've made claims against UPS and FedEx and not had any problems. USPS is not customer oriented. Don't use them when you ship car parts. If something happens you'll be sorry.
