Tor, If I am not mistaken I believe the SCCA Solo2 rules state that the exhaust must exit behind the driver. As far as damaging the valves, look at most road race cars that have an open exhaust. I have a friend that used to run GT5 for almost 20 years and always ran an open exhaust. The only time he damaged the head or valves was when the pistons and valves tried to occupy the same space at the same time, the laws of physics prohibit that occupation! Also for years he ran without an air filter and he wondered why he had to rebuild his head 2-3 times a year.... Tor, you also have to consider if your region has any sound control. Most autox's that isn't a concern but you need to make sure first. Have fun!

If you are going to use a 1st gen Honda for autocross only do you need exhaust on it past the header? I mean, if I am not going to use the car on the street is there any reason to have it? If you run an open header will it damage the valves?
