I mentioned that I would show my garage / playroom one day...so here it is! :) I actually have two garages. A single garage, and a double garage. The single garage is mainly being used as a playroom. The kids can open the door and leave on there scooters to play at the park. If we ever move, the room can still be used as a garage (for a small car). My wife and I came up with the idea, but we went a little crazy with it. :) My honda is still in the other garage. I'm slowly working on it. I'm currently trying to put floor in rafters to put more junk up there.

I like your thinking :)

Its a 5 speed in case it matters

By Justin (199.60.112.10) on Friday, January 21, 2005 - 01:10 pm:

Kurt... remote start with rear widow defrost activation :) I know someone that can do it :)

By Kurt (205.250.75.226) on Friday, January 21, 2005 - 11:15 am:

Thats why I built a shed. Couple of shelves and lots of room. Plus, I built it by the fence so I can hide some fenders and hoods and my wife can't even see them :) My wife refuses to park outside and scrape her windows so I even had to move my JetSki under my deck in the back :(

By Dana (207.81.26.8) on Friday, January 21, 2005 - 12:17 am:

Frito , Don't worry we are all in the dog house most of the time. I'm sure the wife new you were going to by another car. Just buy her the Van???

Twyla, there's never enough storage space in any house. I guess that's Justins dog house if he doesn't start the truck.

School started back up and I have no time now. I go to school full time and I sit in traffic part time. :)

We just added custom garage cabinets. It made a huge difference! Everything is neater and that keeps the wife happy. I'll have to show you some pics some day. Its totally cool! You guys will flip when you see the paint.

These guys put in my cabinets. Check out the pictures.

Dana, we have a large crawl space under the house so half of the crawl space is filled with household stuff and the other half is the honda stuff (gotta love lots of storage)

The shop is gone :( But, we have a oversized two car garage, I insulated it, so it works well :) We than added a secondary garage off the main to store the wagon/convertible/trailer and twyla's truck. We have lane access for the garage and a secondary gate off the side of the house to access the cement pad in the back yard and then we did a mixture of asphalt/gravel mix on one side of the yard where the secondary garage is :) So we have enough room :) BTW there is already 4 Honda's and vista wagon sitting in the back yard, and not mention the other 4 cars in the driveway :) Our neighbours must love us :)

When it warms up, we will hold a meet at our house, camping optional :)

By Kurt (205.250.75.226) on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 - 06:39 pm:

Twyla, I have a hard enough time with my garage, how in the world are you fitting everything? The shop is gone right?

Christine, i feel your pain. i am patiently waiting for my truck to be finished. when you come down for a visit you must come check out our house (and dana and kyran can check out the garage) see you in may :)

By Jonathan (68.193.6.173) on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 - 03:25 pm:

Ted, that looks alot like my Chevelle does right now, I can barely see it. I can't wait for warm weather to come back....

My Civic isn't doing much better, it's white with snow now, but not as white as the roads are with salt. It's gonna be a few more months before I get any miles on that either.

i'm so lucky ! --

my girlfriend is wise enough to know that if i don't get my "tinkerin'" time in, i go a little crazy - she see's it as my well needed meditiation time - and hey -- it pays off for her too --
why, just today even - twas a chilly morn here in stockholm - i get a panic call from my sweetie saying "HELP, i'm on my way to this important meeting and the bmw just stopped in traffic and won't start again !" -- so, i wander down to my trustworthy 76 civic, scrape an inch of ice of off it, start it right up and rush to the rescue -- it was a great sight really, all these people watching these two cars, with hazards blinking, pulled half up on to the side walk - followed by us pushing the BIMMER off the street, and zooming off in the civic!! - classic ...

love my car -- and really, so does she, now more than ever !

Did I mention that I have about 8 things on ebay. :) I'm also cleaning out my garage. I hoping to work on it once the garage is cleaned and organized...yeah right. I try to make an effort to sell something, but after that I'll just throw it away.

Dana I think most people would be supportive if the project would be completed, but I don't think we want them to end. :( Sorta Crazy I guess.

PS. I saw a awesome civic today but he was going in the opposite direction. It was bright orange!

My girlfriend is working out of town for another few months so I can do whatever I want! Bwhahaha.... Actually I'm pretty lucky because she likes my civic and encourages me to fix it up. May have something to due with the fact that she can't stand the loud motor/exhaust and my DIY paintjob. :)

You've heard of finding Waldo, now you can try your luck with finding the civic

Twyla congrats on the house, looking forward to seeing you May Long Weekend.

Guys, It's simple have a kid that drives your wife crazy. She is blessed when we leave the house to go to the shop.

Piece and quite works ???

By Ted (63.224.195.169) on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 10:05 am:

I make a list of things I want to get done on the civic between race seasons, and I usually do 80% of the work in March and April. Right now the car is covered with garage junk, and is filled with things like old towels, dog food, boxes, etc. as I'm using it as storage. I'll take a pic of it tonight.

Because it runs good, I'm not pressured to work on it, but there is always something to do to make it go faster.

When I need a "garage day", I tell the wife she can go shopping with our 2 year old son. It never fails =) Even if they come home empty handed, I still got some work done.

By Smarticusgreen (68.109.151.121) on Monday, January 17, 2005 - 10:47 am:

Hey Guys! Darrell's Warden Here. (snicker) I am totally guilty of piling up the projects. I for one, would really dig seeing the Honda finished...or at least put together...ok, ok, I'll settle for all in one general vicinity...he he.

No really, we all have our hobbies. I haven't touched mine either since we've been working on house stuff. Maybe, we should move "Honda" on up the list off priorities. Like just in front of work. I say, "Darrell, you cannot go to work until you finish that car!"

Actaully, I already did, in a way. Friday was his last day of work so he can go to school. Maybe he'll have more time now.

I can't wait to ride in it.

Buh Bye Ya'll! Jamie.

a sick day ... garage day ... BRILLIANT !!!

I hope noone at work reads this !!!

By Darrell--Arizona-- (68.109.151.121) on Monday, January 17, 2005 - 09:34 am:

Justin that's a great idea! Once my wife had a Turbo Sprint and she loved it! Maybe I make the car for both of us to enjoy.

I definately need to dedicated some time (even a few hours) to the garage. I like the idea of having a sick day too.

Keep the ideas coming! :)

By Tor (63.146.72.66) on Monday, January 17, 2005 - 08:33 am:

I call in sick once every couple of weeks for a "garage" day when nobody is home.

Then I just have to choose what project to work on.

By Kurt (205.250.75.226) on Sunday, January 16, 2005 - 11:42 pm:

With my schedule I had days off during the week so I had the opportunity to work on mine while she was at work. Now, I still get Mondays off so thats when I get the chance.

I know what you mean by the house thing.

She always gets on me but never says too much. Everyone needs a hobby :)

I feel your pain... just bought a house, and so many reno's so little time :) Twyla is great though.... she doesn't bitch when I spend a little time on the honda's, but she also loves to help out ( I haven't touched ours since last summer :( )I've only been working on friend's Honda's. Before I'm to work on my wagon again. I promised her I would finish her VW Caddy(rabbit truck)before I do anything on mine(She's been patiently waiting almost 5 years) You should just get the wife a honda of her own.. it's addicting(or just maybe have her remember the great times you spent together in you Honda, and wouldn't it be great to do that again.

Hey guys. I need your help.

Its been so long since I worked on my car. Its just sitting there collecting dust. I love the car and want to see it finished some day, but I can't seem to work on it. I keep getting sidetracked by home improvements, school, family.

What do you guys do to make time for your car? Does your wife get on you for working on the car?
What do you say if she does?

My wife supports me, but I don't want to interupt the flow of the other stuff I'm doing especially if she's helping.

Maybe this is a question for Dr. Phil. What do you guys think?
