Yes, they originally had a hydraulic clutch.
Honda has been funny like that over the years, still are to this day in fact.
Things that make you go hmmm..........

Did that thing use a hydraulic clutch? It still seems funny to me that Honda couldn't just decide on one or the other and swapped back and forth through the years and between cars.

By CVCC x 2 (64.229.14.140) on Wednesday, February 09, 2005 - 05:50 pm:

Yup, egg blue.

Does your friend have any of these cars or parts for them?

By sjupergrover (193.173.195.225) on Wednesday, February 09, 2005 - 03:05 am:

egg blue, is that the color we see on the engine pic ???

I have a friend in Holland who is one of the biggest S500/S600/S800 enthousiasts in europe (in fact I can say Honda enthousiast instead)

sedn me an mail at sjupergrover@hotmail.com and I will send you his email adress. I am sure he can help you out sometimes with some advise.

Well, got my new toy a few weeks ago, naturally, it was not as nice as I first expected of course.
"Japanese" and "39 years old" don't do hand in hand with out "rust".
The floorboards are swiss cheese, covered up by layers of steel patches and fiberglass.
Got my work cut out for me, but I will continue, come hell or high water.
This is a rare car, one of only 281 built for 1966 and even rarer still in the color it was finsihed in, robins egg blue.
Production figures show only a handfull of blue S600 coupes were built, primarily for the European market, and even fewer still in left hand drive.
I have yet to fire it up, but have been assured that it ran really nice when run 12 years ago.

Lets just put it this way, I got rid of 4 of my cars, they should cover the purchase and restoration costs of this car!!

How Much?

By CVCC x 2 (64.229.9.70) on Thursday, January 20, 2005 - 04:00 am:

Everything is included with the car, all in boxes. It will be just like building a BIG model, only no instructions are provided for this one!

So do you have the grill, bumpers, etc

By shnitzel (24.66.81.139) on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 - 07:06 pm:

you people are to fenatical about the restoration crap. ha ha ha.

shave it, paint it flat black, shine up the chrome, drop a front wheel drive V8 toronodo drivetrain in it. maybe a second in the back... ha ha ha ha ha ah ha

kewl looking car. allways dreamed of building a whole body and it would look something like that.

civic inspection tomorrow. have to go tie up a few loose ends, better get at er.

Thanks for the input, I am really excited about the arrival of this car and continuing the restoration of it.
I found this car after losing out on a couple others recently. It has been in the Toronto area for the last 30 or so years, after being imported from Germany.
It hasn't run in the last 10 years, but the engine will still turn over, so that is a good start.
My plans are to restore it to as near stock condition as I can, right down to the white wall tires.
It is a whole different ballgame though when trying to find parts, the first gen Civics are a walk in the park by comparison..........

I love the MG Midgets from around 1974. The later models with the 'facelift' were definitely a step backwards. There's just too many great cars out there that I'd love to rebuild.

Great score with that s600 :)

That is awesome, gotta be the nicest classic Honda (pre first gens of course). Where you find it?

By Canada76civic (Canada76civic) (68.146.192.75) on Monday, January 17, 2005 - 07:54 pm:

Whoa, CVCCx2 - you sure got yourself a real good project! I've alway like the little sport coupes like Honda S800, MG roadsters and few others of the '60s myself. Where did you dug up that one - they're not that common even in the U.S.!

Post us in your updates on your new project, will you?

By CVCC x 2 (64.229.15.213) on Monday, January 17, 2005 - 07:38 pm:

Just picked up a new project, the ultimate vintage Honda, a 1966 S600 coupe, hope to have it on the road by spring 2006.
Just need to complete the already started restoration.
