I remember those wheels, but they are rare as...well you name it...I always thought they would look great on a Civic. The Mazda dealer probably thought he was going to be buried with them...great score...and everybodies happy. The car was called a Cosmo here in the States, but I think they only sold them one year, or maybe two years, and very few of them were sold at that.

Different country, different name, same car.
No, Subaru never used 4x120 (they are much bigger).

In Aust. never heard of cosmo!!. Over here they were a Mazda RX5 Rotary. I think the early Subaru's had a 120 pattern too

I just realized that a RX5 is also known as a Cosmo, which explains it. The Cosmo was the only Mazda model equipped with a rotary engine with a different lug spacing.

That's odd. As far as I knew, all old Mazda rotaries shared the same bolt pattern: 4x110mm. I've never heard of a different bolt pattern on old Mazdas unless they were the piston motored models.

What make of car did those wheels come off? Mazuda or Mazada?
By jim_mac (211.31.13.145) on Sunday, January 23, 2005 - 07:41 pm: |
Yes the spacing is 120pcd. About five years ago I called into a Mazada Parts shop in Sydney and got the lot for $AU200.
Being from a rear wheel drive the offset is a little too wide but I experimented as my civic is lowered 25mm I ran 175/65/14's which fixed the offset problem but on some occasions the tyres would scrape the guards. The guards needed to be lipped.
Anyway I ended up selling the rims & tyres to a guy in Adelaide because I already had 12" mags that have been on the car since 1974. I'll post a picture of these now that I know how to send pics

Nice wheels. Whats the spacing 120mm? If you need
center caps I found a web site that has them.
