Well when you open the choke, you give more air so of course it idles higher, it does so it'll start and warm up faster in the morning. Check for vacuum leaks and if not mabe your timing is advanced abit or your carbs need tuning. Freakin carbs...

I am new to the site and also no nothing about honda engines. I was wondering if anyone has ever had a problem with their engine idling too fast and only getting faster as the choke opens. I have checked for vacumm lines that may be off and tried to adj it with the curb idle screw any suggestions?
Thank you

Colin,
You should use the coil that matches the distributor, and if its in a 1st gen get rid of the ballast resistor as it limits the spark. Be sure its actually a distributor problem or you could be throwing the baby out with the bath water. Hard to say, as I don't think USA spec "dizzies" are the same as Canadian ones...I know that the EL ones didn't match EK(USA) ones. Also in the "old days" one had to be on the lookout for a coil that had reversed it's polarity, as that would cause all kinds of problems and foul engine performance too. You don't hear much about that nowadays, though. I don't know why.

Hey guys,
You remember me whingin that I could'nt get the EN1 to fire right? Well low and behold it was the stupid electronic distributor the whole time! I shouldda kept my head on the EN1 with the fresh OEM gasket. I put the distributor on my daily driver and wired up the ignitor and everything. It sounds like its missing 1 or 2 cylinders. you don't haveta connect the negative coil to the electronc dizzy housing right cause theres no condesor on it? I just plugged the negative for the ignitor on there. Anyways, I'll try a new cap and rotor...otherwise, anyone have an EN1 dizzy they're willing to part with?

Cheers,
Colin
