Say Don,
Look what this meatball is thinking about doing down in the classified section...sound like two peas in a pod to me...The Arabs have a saying...loosely translated means two assholes in the same underwear.

Maybe they wouldn't be so happy if they knew the truth...something to think about and live by otherwise you will have the respect of used car salesman, but no one else.

Sometimes I dont get why people get so concerned, if the two involved are happy why do you think its your business or place to opine? That guy that got 20,xxx for advertising on his forehead had a lot naysayers too, but whatever no skin off my nose.

Oh, and Jonathan I am sure you are correct about the intermittant wipers, and years available.
By John S. (68.90.168.13) on Wednesday, February 02, 2005 - 10:19 pm: |
I guess you also don't rememember the full page "Legalese" disclaimer you added at the bottom about "friends don't let friends not pay" etc. Horsecrap...Kind of reminds me of William Shakespeare, "Me thinks thou protests to much".
And I didn't follow up that bid to the end, but who ever bought that stuff at 20.00 was allowing themselves to be screwed, if they paid even more than that, they got it with a twist.

5-speeds only came standard with intermittent wipers on the 78/79 models. It was still an option on the earlier ones. The '77 5-speed I had the standard 2-speed wipers.

actually since you brought it up I dont remeber doing or saying that that either, and it was way more
Hmmm Ive seen 5spd CVCCs withOUT int. wipers...

JMS,
OK since You brought it up, I don't see putting a couple of 1.00 drawer pulls on the door handles and calling them "factory", as being honest in any way, but hey you got your 20+ dollars for them, so I guess there ARE fools born every minute.
By Kurt (205.250.75.226) on Tuesday, February 01, 2005 - 09:59 pm: |
The CVCCs came standard with the 4 speed. The Hondamatic was an option.
The 'CVCC 5 Speed' came with the tach standard and the wood wheel, shift knob, cigarette lighter and intermittent wipers.

John S. fill us in I know I have no idea what you are talking about. So what are you ranting about, this is not my car, and no where does it mention high deluxe
(in Japan thats what they called some of them though-you should look into it go to this website and scroll down a bit):
http://www.hpmix.com/home/smodelcar/R7.htm
and where have you ever seen a civic fake wood steering wheel as opposed to real ones? Trust me, they are manufactured from real wood. If you need any other tips for tricking out your car like those wood handles just ask and I can assist you. Feel free to give credit where its due as well.
I think most of us are familiar with the history of the cars, Im not anal about the terms used however, and anyone that looks at the auctions should know what it is if they find it, those that dont get good ideas like you did.
One thing I dont know is did CVCCs ever come in 4spd?

Tor,
them you should keep up with whats happening...most of us know whats been going on.

John s. Who are you asking to become more honest in their dealings? Are you talking about the person who posted the car? I am pretty sure that person has not posted in this thread.
By Jonathan (68.193.6.173) on Sunday, January 30, 2005 - 09:54 am: |
That car is in the town over from where I work. Maybe I'll see about taking a close look when I get off from work next week.
Also, to add to what John S. said, the wood stuff came standard with the 5-speeds (and only 5-speeds), the deluxe gauges came with the 5-speeds standard, optional on all other models. I've got a picture in one of my brochures with a Hondamatic with the deluxe gauges and A/C .

OK, not sure what that was about, or who was behind it, but moving on...
First off that guy is friggin out of his mind, do you see the rust all along the bottom of the body? Hate to see the underside of the car, but hey, now EVERYBODY thinks these cars are classics, and that makes any of them worth a lot doesn't it?
Next just to set the record straight, the first CVCC's came out in '75. There was no "High Deluxe Model", only the 5-Speed upgrade which had the fake wood steering wheel and a real wood shift knob, and none of them came with wood on the door handles. Though I did think it was a good idea, and Will use it on my '78 currently hiding from snow and salt in a garage.
I should know all of this as I bought a new one in 1975 from Chezik Honda here in Missouri. It sticker'ed for just under 3,700.00 W/O Air. they onlly came in two colors the first couple of years...Yellow and Orange, with that ugly "houndstooth" seat insert fabric.
Oh, "probably" is actually "definitely", There were no factory 1200 5-Speeds in the USA. Honda didn't feel the 1200 could pull one, but some of us know that is not true...depending on gear ratio.
I keep hoping that you WILL get a little more honest in your dealings with people. I guess we will see what effect going overseas and being in the middle of that mess has on you. I know a lot of guys from my era, (Vietnam), went over there all Gung Ho, and a good portion of them came back different men...for the better. Here's hopeing.

nevermind its not even a CVCC, its a 1200 on second look with AC it looks like, whne he says upgraded to CVCC dash board I htink he just means the tacho, probably was a 4spd at one time.
By Kyle Thomson (24.86.14.57) on Saturday, January 29, 2005 - 04:31 pm: |
well it does say that he "upgraded to a 5 speed transmission", so you may still be correct
By yellowcivic (65.73.198.112) on Saturday, January 29, 2005 - 04:31 pm: |
Only delux CVCC came with the wood wheel, tack, guages, wood shift knob, in the US.
