It's just an 8x20 roll pin (or might be called a spring pin) so if honda doesn't have one it shouldn't be hard to get one from a good nut and bolt shop.
Just a standard pin punch. Buy yourself a set of them from any good tool shop ... you won't regret it! I think I spent around $10-15 on a set some years ago and don't know how I ever did without them.

Yes I have been there. Anyone know the part number for the pin?
Also, is the pin punch a Honda tool? I assume its like a tool to remove links from a m/c chain?

Around 90% of the sideways play is caused by the little roll-pin that connects the shift linkage to the gearbox being worn. They cost a dollar or so from Honda and take a couple of minutes to change. Use the correct tool (a pin punch) when knocking the old one out or it'll take ages plus lots of swearing and possibly missing skin.

can you still buy the assembly. I am making the short shifter but it won't get rid of the play I have side to side

get a new shifter mount, honda still has them for around 25 bucks, I had the same thing happen. I bought 2 while I was at it.

Ok, so the shifter mount finally gave up, and the shifter fell through the floor. Anyone have any brilliant ideas how to repair this?
I think the original rubber cracked due to the engine/tranny movement.
Suggestions?
