Thanks for the tips, Jonathan. Hopefully, my dash will accomodate a glove box as is, since it is in really good shape. It would be hard to find one better around here.
I might hang onto the A/C a little longer. I have a friend who could probably run the system through a pressure test to check the status of it. More than likely there are numerious leaks, but all I can tell at this point is the compressor pully spins ok, and the fan blows just fine. At least I'll find out which parts are worth giving away.
Unfortunately, one of the previous owners parted ways with both the floor and roof consoles. I'd love to score a roof console sometime, so once spring arrives, I'll probably start scavaging the salvage yards. Pretty slim pickings down here in Colorado though...
Wish me luck, I'm going to get my emission test this week. It SHOULD pass since I put a new head gasket and valves in last week. (*gulp*)

Rob, before you pull the A/C parts out, would you be able to take some good pictures of how they are currently installed? I'm planning on installing A/C in my '79 CVCC, but can't find any references as to how it would be installed. I'd be really interested in how it all gets wired up (such as where does it get the main power from, how many relays, which order the switches get connected in, etc.), as well as the proper belt routing. The more pictures the better
Also, you may want to look into getting a whole new dash from a junkyard. They're easy to pull out (10 bolts with a non-A/C car, three cables for the heater, the choke knob, speedo cable, and a bunch of wiring connectors), and it won't be cut at all. When the dealer installed A/C, at least in the one 1200 A/C dash I took apart, they cut the lip in the dash that would have held the glovebox door tight. Without that lip, it would rattle around quite a bit. There's also two holes where the knobs would have gone. It's not something that's major, but before you put too much work into your current dash, I figured I'd let you know.
A '77 fully loaded, huh? Any other neat accessories you're willing to sell off it to reduce weight ? Possibly a floor console or overhead console
?

I will buy all of the A/C stuff if your willing to ship. I'm in Hope, BC Canada.
I also have a glove box door and fittings if need be.

Hello. I have a '77 CVCC which was purchased from the dealer loaded. It has the dealer installed A/C, which I assume bit the dust many years ago since the belt was removed from the compressor. I will probably take all of the associated parts off the car (compressor, evaporator, etc.) in an effort to reduce weight. The problem is this car has a bunch of stuff relating to the A/C instead of a glove compartment. Does anyone know where to get the door and fittings for a glove compartment or if this swap is even possible.
BTW, if anyone in the Denver area wants the extra A/C, you are welcome to it
