Charles, what time are you going to be leaving work tomorrow? I'd be able to take a quick look at it around 5-5:30 tomorrow afternoon. Gimme a call if you're free around then (973) 610-4586.

Do you notice the car pulling any different when braking? Does the squeak occur whenever the car is moving, or when the clutch in/out? Does it change with engine speed, or road speed? Does it happen at all when the car is stopped? If you stop with the parking brake only (on a secluded road or parking lot, of course :) ), would the grinding happen still?

just because it's new doesn't mean it's not it. That could have just meant the brake pads or just the brake rotors or they could be installed improperly...there's any number of possibilities. New brakes doesn't usually mean a rebuilt or new caliper and it sounds like that's where your skeaking and pulling is coming from, so you NEED to have that checked out. After some driving and squeeking and what-not, pull over with some water in a cup. Take a little in your palm and sprinkle it on the rotor/caliper. Compare the amount of sizzling and how long it takes for the water to dry up to the other wheel. If it's seized, it'll usually overheat.

Charles,
The caliper is the part of the break that clamps the brakes to stop the car. The wheel bearing is the part the wheel rotates on in the front hub. It still could be the brakes if the caliper isn't releasing. It can wear pretty fast if its stuck. Its kind of like driving arround with the brakes on all the time. If you jack up that side and rotate the wheel you should be able to turn it freely.

Sounds like the brakes are down metal to metal. If you drive it you will ruin the disk rotor ifits not already gone. It could be your caliper is seized causing the pulling. If its not that it would be the wheel bearing. Don't drive it! Get it repaired before driving.

Hi, i just noticed an Squeeking/musical tone coming from the front left quarter of my civic...

im assuming its an alignment issue because the car is pulling a bit to the left, and the squeek gets faster when the car moves faster.....

it also makes a grindy sort of growl at the VERY END of breaking (the last foot to 1/2 foot)

So, i know NOTHING bout cars...
what do ya think is going on here?
i cant bring her in to be serviced untill tuesday...

is my car going to blow up?
plz help :)
