I wonder how calibrated the oil pressure guage is for that sender? surely they're not all the same..

psi and lb/inch2 are the same thing, Pounds per Square Inch. It's just another abbreviation. The 20W50 is pretty thick, I'd think you'd see pressures higher than what you're seeing. Still, if you're not hearing any bad noises from the engine, I wouldn't worry.
Just out of curiosity, how are you measuring the pressure?

im using 20w50 mineral oil well, when i accelerate the pressure raises to 40/45 lb/inchs2 now you guys talking on psi? what is the conversion table?

My Honda manual says 20 psi minimum at idle, 48-60 at 3000 rpm for a 1500, so I'd imagine your pressures should be about the same. What weight oil are you using? Your pressures don't sound too bad. If the engine isn't making nasty noises, I wouldn't worry about it. If you are worried, go to the next weight up in oil.

My engine was built with loose clearances on purpose and it stays above 30 hot so 15-20 is not a good sign. You probably have some worn parts not the oil pump. Its probably not fatal now but start collecting parts for a new engine

I think the idiot light comes on at 16-20PSI, so I'd guess once the oil heats up it should be a bit above that.

Sounds right to me. I haven't checked with a guage though. Check your manuel.

well guys i want to know what oil pressure are you guys running at normal working temperature
my car when the engine is cool reachs max 65lb/inch2 and when the temp raises to normal temp it drops till 15 or 20 lb/inch2, so i wanna know if my oil pump is gone or if this is right for a 77 1200
