Anyone interested in turbocharging should check out that article. Very inspiring:)
Also, I found an article about the Formula SAE program at some colleges. I'm going to Oregon State next fall and they participate in it, so I'll be joining up next fall. Pretty cool little cars...check it out at http://www.fsae.com/
and at http://groups.engr.oregonstate.edu/SAE/Formula/

This months Grassroots Motorsports Magazine has an excellant article on turboing cars, as well as info on which of the available factory pieces are recommended yea or nay, and why.

Well Guys I went to see it, and the body is SHOT...no good, only the glass' is good, of all sides...it does have 2 original rims...it has passenger door handle and trunk key latch? No emblems...it has grille and normal guages...I haven't checked under hood cuz' the passenger door was on top of hood so...hood was shut. I'll check that out during the week.To see what else I could get out. It also has the taillights. It's NOT CvCC ....:)

By DaRk (66.50.13.38) on Tuesday, March 08, 2005 - 08:49 pm:

I would like my daily driver to be running like that :D although tomorrow I'll be looking at an 88 CRX so I'll be checking that engine...:)and tranny. Also my cuz'n told me that he saw a 1st gen CvCC somewhere near his house so I'm gonna check that out too...if there is any spare parts or somewhat I'll keep You guys informed :)

By Jarcaf (Jarcaf) (207.55.238.216) on Tuesday, March 08, 2005 - 08:17 pm:

I wonder what kind of horsies would come out of an EK w/ that kind of boost!? I don't ever plan on going THAT high, as a daily driver, but I'll want to turn up the boost eventually to at least around 12psi. I'll get the ARP rod bolts eventually, as I heard that those are generally the first things to go. Was it you that said that, or if not do you agree?

By DaRk (66.50.13.38) on Tuesday, March 08, 2005 - 07:34 pm:

14.5 1/4 :P neat...what other mod's did you have? :)

By Glenn Biscan (203.166.96.240) on Tuesday, March 08, 2005 - 06:44 pm:

was running about 26psi but the turbo fins were almost completely worn, and had alot of shaft play.

By Jarcaf (Jarcaf) (207.55.238.216) on Tuesday, March 08, 2005 - 06:09 pm:

What kind of boost psi are you running, Glenn?

By Glenn Biscan (203.166.96.238) on Tuesday, March 08, 2005 - 06:07 pm:

the rhb5 turbo i had on the civic was totaly worn out and still had good throttle response and good top end, and yeilded a 14.5 1/4

By DaRk (66.50.13.38) on Tuesday, March 08, 2005 - 05:33 pm:

Yea...I've seen the 323's and they DO move good :)

By Jacob (65.113.241.30) on Tuesday, March 08, 2005 - 02:58 pm:

I've done a fair amount of research on this subject. What I've found is that the T2 from the Sunfire is a good sized turbo (have one on my shelf), as is the RHB5 VJ11 from a Ford Probe, and the RHB5 VJ14 from the 323GTX. Either of these turbo's should flow plenty of air for the 1.2L and retain good response. Plus, the RHB5's are a dime-a-dozen on ebay.

By DaRk (66.50.182.21) on Monday, March 07, 2005 - 06:04 am:

Ok thanks Jarcaf and Glenn... :)

By Glenn Biscan (211.30.144.154) on Monday, March 07, 2005 - 02:14 am:

The rayjay kit has a surprisingly large turbo. It’s near 2.5 times the size of the ihi rhb5 turbo I was running on the city turbo motor (same displacement)

But if @ all possible get a roller bearing model. They are superior to the rayjay, if you talk with your local turbo repair shop ( mine is the Garrett factory ) they will help you select a turbo that is correct for your motor, and this will yield better results for you.

By Jarcaf (Jarcaf) (207.55.238.216) on Sunday, March 06, 2005 - 10:08 pm:

Uh... well there really is no such thing as a turbo kit for 1st or 2nd gens anymore. That list is just for the turbos off of other cars. You're gonna have to make an exhaust manifold or flange adapter(like glenn said), and bolt a turbo on to that plus pipe it all up. As for which TURBO would be best from that list, the lower displacement engines are better; ie: the pontiac 1.8 and 2.0L w/ the garrett t2's.
I'm very new into this turbo scene, so guys like glenn, shnitzel, and colza are more qualified for these questions:) Hope this helps though...

By DaRk (66.50.181.43) on Sunday, March 06, 2005 - 09:43 pm:

Jarcaf...will any of those fit my '79 1200 engine? and around what is the price range for the whole kit? Y'know like Everything... :D

By Jarcaf (Jarcaf) (207.55.238.216) on Sunday, March 06, 2005 - 09:17 pm:

Is there any particular reason you need a rayjay? garrett/airesearch t25's and mitsu te04h's are good sizes too. I yanked this list of stock turbo's from here: http://www.turbomustangs.com/forums/showthread.php?s=c585403874e81d294a0ef4396971f4aa&threadid=4365

Sorry this takes up so much space, but I figure it's a good resource for us turbo-seekers...

I think ramon still might have a few new?

By DaRk (66.50.181.111) on Sunday, March 06, 2005 - 04:15 am:

I'm pretty good at welding :) so... But it's pretty difficult to find a rayjay turbo these days...:(

By Glenn Biscan (211.30.144.154) on Sunday, March 06, 2005 - 01:32 am:

you can put any turbo you want

are you any good @ welding ? if you are most of the hard work is making up exhaust manifold's or adapters to make the turbo fit

i have heard King motorsports made a kit but never seen one b4.

The rayjay kit is pretty good

By DaRk (66.50.182.252) on Saturday, March 05, 2005 - 09:30 pm:

instead of that rayjay turbo...:)

By DaRk (66.50.182.252) on Saturday, March 05, 2005 - 09:29 pm:

What other turbo systems could one install and the 1200 civics? and what mod. do we need to do ? :)
