Natcho No I never said I was using the bolts on a CVCC I do know that the early Cvcc had standard fasteners...NO the spiraled fasteners are not TTY, BUT the are designed to stretch and this caused me to not want to reuse stretchy bolts for good reason. So that left either ARP (no stretchy there either) or using the old style bolt.

Natcho, I have an extra '75 CVCC gasket set somewhere around here, if you want it you can have it for $10 plus shipping. The guy I bought it from thought it was for 76-79, but when I opened it up it was for the '75's.

The spiral head bolts were for a little more "give" to the bolts, which I think was to prevent the head gasket issues on the CVCC models. The different expansion rates between the aluminum head and cast iron block caused some relative motion, which the head gaskets didn't like. Those bolts were specially designed to keep that from happening, it allowed some motion without tearing up the gasket. If I couldn't find new, I don't think I'd be too worried about used. They're not torque to yield bolts.

Thanks guys for all the info and for the links.

Sue: Thanks for the reminder about the gasket set. I'll have to check, but I might already have an Ishino gasket set like you describe. I ordered a manifold gasket a while back and it came with a bunch of extra stuff, but since I was only paying attention to the manifold I don't remember who made the set or what else was in the package. Have you (or anyone else) used Ishino head gaskets before? Are they any good? Given the current state of parts availabilty for this car, and the as yet unknown origin and location of my (partial) gasket set, I might just order one from you for insurance. Let me check my parts stash and get back to you.

Don: Where do you get your early 1200 head bolts and what part number are you using? And are you saying that you've used them on a CVCC? Maybe parts is parts after all, but I sure will miss those spiraled head bolts.

Thanks again to everyone for all the help thus far. Any additional sources or suggestions are greatly appreciated. I'll keep you posted.

Is this what you want?

The early bolts at least on 1200s were not spiraled and thats what I have been reusing with no problems. Lots of gasket manufactures rebox other peoples stuff so there are still some good quality stuff out there to be had.

The Head Gasket SET (which includes the manifold gasket and a few other gaskets & seals) is part number 06110-657-010. Hondas list price is $147.14 but is no longer available. I can get you this head gasket set made by Ishino - the company that makes a lot of gaskets & seals for Honda. I might be able to send you a picture of the parts included in this set if you're interested. This set would run you about $35.00.

Not sure where to get the bolts.

I was doing the head on my 75 and I was referred to Honda dealers. Bolts are very expensive. Maybe 10-20$ each. Try eBay for the gaskets. They pop up from time to time.
heres some links too............

Had to special order my gasket from Kragen who had to order it from someone else. Dont forget to do you other gaskets while you got it apart. Did a 75 head gasket 2 times b4 so let me know if you need pointers.
good luck.

Hello all. Looks like Honda no longer carries head gaskets, manifold gaskets, or head bolts. I know some folks have used Felpro gaskets in the past, but does anyone have an idea where to find replacement head bolts? I'm not a fan re-using the old bolts, especially on an engine that has been severly overheated or abused, so I'm hoping that one of you will have an idea of an aftermarket source. And while I'm at it, does anybody have the contact information for a Felpro dealer, and/or the part numbers for the gaskets? All parts are for a 75 CVCC, btw. Thanks in advance!
