I'd look at the oil sending unit on the block, it can throw a hell of a lot of oil (it has full oil pressure you know), when it fails. But rough running really doesn't sound like an oil leak problem to me.

Well I figured it out, it has an oil leak and its dripping onto my header and burning it, I though it smelled like anit-frz but I was wrong. Its still not running so good but I think its a different issue. How in the world can I tell where that leak is coming from there is oil all over the place, I dont know how I missed the leak. Its been a tad drippy for a while but its bad now. Hopefully its just the pan, but there is so much everywhere its hard to tell where its coming from, its all toward the bottom though and looks like its nearer the trans.

I replaced the plugs and wires and it did get better, I also adjuted the carbie. The plug wires were in rough shape but oddly enough it didnt improve the running as much as I though it would. COuld the leak be causing compression loss? Ive never done a comp test before.

what should compression be? Mine is 170,160,162,155.

If it's smoking, it's not a thermostat. Is your coolant level dropping at all? Any bubbles in the coolant when the engine is running and up to temp? If it is, that coolant is going somewhere. If there's no external leak, it's getting into the engine somehow. I'd almost be hoping for a head gasket, they're easy enough to do on a Honda, and it's better than a cracked block or head.

Is the smoke coming from the tailpipe or under the hood? What color is the smoke?

A leakdown and compression test will help locate the source of the leaks. There's also a pressure tester that you can put on the radiator to pressurize the system. Pump it up, leave it overnight, se if the pressure drops. If the pressure does drop, you're losing it from somewhere, and the puddle of coolant will help show you where it's coming from.

Have you done a tune-up yet? Making sure all the easy to get at stuff is working right will help you trace down a problem.

Try retorquing the head bolts...need I say wait until it is at ambient temperature i.e.cold. Who knows...you might get lucky.

it runs, but has been running bad-see my other post

any ideas, I hope its not a head gasket, I cant tell where the smoke is coming from, could it be as easy as a thermostat? The temp reads normal though, and everything else is pretty normal except the running bad, runs good with the choke on though, maybe its a few issues?
