Well I ordered the 6kg/mm - 336lb/in ones today. Hopefully they will be soft enough, we'll see in a month or so

"bumpy" as in harsh/firm? or bumpy as in bouncy/soft?
And what brand of springs?

I have 6 kg/mm springs on the front of my 2nd gen hatch. This is with an alloy block engine and on standard shocks. It is a little bumpy up front, but i dont mind at all.

The engine swap info is below, I don't know how heavy my car is exactly, but I figure if Don and Ted are both using 350lb springs on their 1200's (aluminum block, smaller car) then my car with its heavier engine, and the fact that its a wagon should be able to compress them a little more
I am using some of those cheap generic kits right now and its to soft.
I'd like to get a variable rate as well, but I can't find any brands that sell them: in pairs, in the size I want for the adjustable perches, in the length I want so my lower perch isn't getting too close to my tire

That seems pretty stiff. How heavy are you expecting your car to be? Did you do an engine swap? (maybe I should know that already)
Someone said the generic crx kits on ebay are stiff for a 1gen and they only cost about $60.
Personally I'd like to get variable springs for a better ride, but I'm not ready to pay the high eibach price tag.

Well I think I'm going to try the 6kg/mm - 336lb/in ones. I did a bunch or searching and found a few of you guys run 350's on the track and I figure with the extra weight I have over your cars it may soften it up enough for the street. I'll order them at see what happens

Well here is the situation, I made up some coilovers for my wagon a while back and am very un-impressed with the bounciness of the front end. I know its the shocks job to control the oscilations, but I really think its the el cheapo springs that are allowing to much compression going over bumps. They seem more than willing to bottom out going over anything bigger than a pebble. My set-up is as follows:
81 VW rabbit strut inserts (KYB)
shortened 73-74 civic casings
Made In Taiwan adjustable coilover kit for 88-91 civic
Addco front sway bar
(all in a 79 wagon with an EL iron block, 4x100 swap, and Konig Heliums with ES100's)
Now I've been looking around trying to find some springs that match the size I need and come in a number of different spring rates. I found out that Tanabe (www.tanabe-usa.com) has springs in the sizes in need (65mm dia X 170mm length). Now what I'm trying to decide is which spring rate would be right for my vehicle. They have some in 3/4/5/6/8/10 kg/mm which is about 168/224/280/336/448/560 lb/in.
Anyone with some GOOD knowledge want to tell me which one would work best for me?
ps. if you wanna see how its set-up now, look at www.civic77.com/77civic1200
