I bought these on a whim. I hope they fit.
shelby wheels

i believe with all things considered i'd be better off trying to nab some crx hf hubs and doing the 4x100 conversion ..

however, i mist say, the thought of reworking the stock suspension has been a bit of a question for me for a long time ..

i'm not at all satisfyied with the stock suspension componenets ..

but, nor am i an engineer !
just a driver who wants more !

Mo,

Can't offer too many suggestions that don't involve major re-engineering of the suspension geometry. My car was raised slightly and had around 1 degree of negative camber at the front (from custom, spherical jointed strut tops) so they were **just** legal ie tops inside the guards). Only used them at the front with 175/65-14 tyres and ran Accord 13" steels with 175/70-13 at the rear (near enough the same rolling diameter) - until I found a set of 13" alloys with the right offset that fitted all round.

IMHO I don't believe the work and $$ that would be required to make those wheels work properly all 'round is worth it.

I did see somone who fited a set of aftermarket 14 x 6" alloys, originally intended for the RX5/Cosmo onto a Civic and "solved" the offset problem with big flairs on all 4 gaurds, however I don't believe they did anything to address the fundamental suspension/steering geometry problems that this approach would have created - in particular very hevy steering and excessive loads on the wheel bearings and stub axles.

My 2c worth....

thanks for the feedback ..
hmm

so how do you recomend dealing with the camber? --

By Mike S (202.12.233.21) on Thursday, April 07, 2005 - 07:16 pm:

The offset on these will be wrong (made for RWD Mazda 121/RX5/Cosmo depending on the market) and unless you have a fair bit of negative camber or have flairs, they will sit well outside the guards at the front.

You will also have problems bolting them on at the rear for similar reasons, plus the centre hole is not big enought to clear the bolts that hold the centre cap onto the rear drums.

The only good news is that if you can solve those other problems, they will take a 175/65-14 tyre (and possibly even a 185/60-14) without fouling the strut - but you have many ther problems to address before you can get to this point.

Been there, tried that many, many years ago......

i suppose i need to wonder about the offset .. that might determine the tire width .. (amongst other things ..)

By go4mo (213.89.251.33) on Thursday, April 07, 2005 - 07:33 am:

... yep .. that's them ..
now if i could only find som alooz ..

it was also strange to find them sitting right beside a stack of civic 12 inch steelies ..
i could match up the centre hole and evr'hting ..

at a wrecker no less ..
almost as if there was some kind of filing system at some point in history !

Were they off of a mazda rx5 (cosmo)? http://www.savv3.com/magnus/rx5/03120501.JPG

hey all ..

just came across some wheels that are 14x5½J - 4x120 ..... altho' they are steelies, i bought 'em of course -- now 2 questions come up --
-- what they hell are they off of?
and --
what size tires will handle them comfortably .. (clearance wise ..)
my thoughts are something like
185/60R/14 ..
195/60R/14 ..

and if i decide to care about my speedo accuracy, 195/60R/14 -- that would keep my speedo somewhat accurate .. like within .5% ..

what are y'alls thoughts on the clearance issue?
