and I quote "The 1300FE (EJ1) and the 1500GL or GLS (EM1) look virtualy identical. As Jonathan suggested find the engine code. The 1300 (EN1) is crossflow but was not installed in the 1300FE and was not available in the US "

Hope that helps....

Are there any crossflow heads i can bolt on? I would like to keep the stock block but i would much prefer a crossflow head to work from. Is the EN 1300 the only early crossflow motor?

I say stock for sure...1.5's are pretty good power for bootin around, then drop ina webber or dellorto, with intake and header....the little buggy would go!

Everyone is doing complete mods now days, it would be nice to see the original "powerfull" ones still original....do the vintage bolt on mods and a power polish, some panasport rims and enjoy ;) You found a sweet car for sure.

Colza, that is NICE...as my Dad used to say "I wish that was mine...and you had a wart on your nose",LOL. All kidding aside, I wish that Honda had imported those to the states, but all we got were the 3-dr Sedans and the Wagons, and of course the Hatchbacks. Looks like all it took was some spit and polish ...and some wheels you probably had piled up in the shed.
It is screaming EL 1600 or 1751 TURBO!!!!
Sleeper....

DEFINITELY you want to go for a full restoration! With virtually no rust and quite a rare body style it would be a shame to do anything else.

As a matter of interest, what are the rear door shuts like?

I picked her up this afternoon =) She is a '75 with a 1500 non-cvcc (can someone tell me how many horsepower?). I am the 3rd owner, she has 43 000 kms on the clock FIRST TIME ROUND!!! Has mint interior with a tacho and 4-spd manual, and a spare tyre in the boot that looks like it has never been removed!

It was last registered in 1995 and has been off the road and garaged since then. The paint is just starting to give out all over the car, so there are many patches of surface rust starting. BUT no structural rust at all and the only spot that looks like it will need new metal welded in is the thin panel under the back bumper.

The only reson she was brought off the road was the elderly owner hit a cyclist (whos face print can be seen in the front left fender/bonnet!) And never drove at all after that. The 2nd owner and next door neihbour of the old man bought the car to restore but never got round to it, and as he is moving house couldnt take the car as well.

Some pics. First ones are as she was when i cot her. Then the others are later this evening after i had freed up the drums and got rid of the rusty wheels!

I am undecided as to what i will do with her. Do the longer 1500's work well as race cars? Or should i build it as a quick and stylish street car? Or go for full restore back to original condition?

I am tending away from the race car because i dont think i have sufficient spare cash and that would be quite a major project. Whether i go for a quick street car or a restoration i dont know... What do you reckon?
