The 80-81 Accords are the same as what John said. I have two I'm using and they are much better than points!!! I have made up some extra aluminium spacers for them and they work great. How are you guys recurving them? Who is doing it?
I have some new 82-83 distributors that I tried one of on my car but it didn't run right and it caused the tack to jump and it wasn't reading right. Has anyonre else used the 82-83 Accords before? Maybe it was just that one with a problem??

The electronic 1335 CVCC dist from an 80-83 CVCC will work on an EB motor with a recurve job, which should be done anyway if you want to gain maximum from it. Just add an additional spacer onto the dist shaft (2 instead of one) and it spaces it out enough to work fine. Attested by my 15+ years of running an EB3 with this setup. Oh, and I never have recurved mine...but it would have made it better. This is ONE of the parts we should be scroungeing from the salvage yards post haste, before they all get thrown away.

For the people in the USA that cant track down a EN1 distributor...a stock EB distributor in good shape, with a pertronix conversion from Summit Racing is very reliable. Its a set it and forget it type of thing. No problems with mine in four plus years.

the cap and rotor for the EN1 dizzy is different. It has a screw top, instead of the lock in sides
I will vouch for the smooth idle, and better revs, just done this conversion in a car with a stage 3 cam. Previously the car wouldnt idle, now idles very well

Now would be a good time to upgrade to a electronic dizzy from the 1335 EN1.You will notice a smoother idel, more reliablility and this will also allow your engine to rev a little higher.I've got a few kickin around $50.00 US shipped gets you every thing you need, you do the wiring. For another $25.00 I will do the wiring and send you a plug and play unit.Add another $25.00 and I can include a new cap and rotor aswell.

also, most dizzy's come with little o ring rubber seal...I have purchased a dizzy before for my 80 accord that was missing the o-ring and same thing. It adds about 1/8th an inch and helps alot...let us know...

Is it the wrong cap for the dizzy? Maybe the inner lip is not big enough or it's broken?
By jms (65.1.116.116) on Wednesday, April 27, 2005 - 06:04 pm: |
Car was running weird, as if it had weak spark. narrowed it down to the dizzy.
Basically the dist cap is loose, but both latches are intact. The cap just doesnt sit right. It runs bad intermittently. When I mess witht he cap it gets better,
any ideas?
A new dizzy maybe as I already replaced the cap and tightened up the latches.
