If you detonate a motor you can do damage, but the risk is no more than changing the timing. Its common sense... it has more to to with the nut behind the wheel (in this case the timing light) than anything else :)

I never new it was that simple with the Honda ones....one advance spring off hey? If I try it can I put it back on if nothing happens or better yet can I do any damage to the motor by removing it?

Vac can... what vac can :) mine is gone. For street use it would be good to keep it though.

what about the vac can?
is there anyway to tune the vac can or maybe buy a different vac can that works off manifold vacuum for tuning it out rather then the one I have now which is off ported vacuum?

also I think I heard something about shims for the ported cans is this correct?

Cheap easy recurve = take one advance spring off, Honda distributors have 2. It didnt quite make the advance curve twice as fast... but its all in now at about 2500 so thats good enough for me :)

Finding the correct recurve will take time and experimenting. If you want to get serious then testing on a chassis dyno will be a must. The people who recurve the distributors on a distributor machine are making an educated guess... thats all.... so if you want to try different advance rates by guessing and testing you could very well improve over what is avalible by a bottom end distibutor guy.
I didnt come up with this idea. My car came with a recurved Dist. I took it appart and suprise suprise. Seems honda has odd length springs so unless you search real hard most distributor shops will just pop one spring off and call it good.

about how much is it to get one recurved or how would one go about doing it?

Tracy, I don't know if the '79 Accord dizzy will fit the '76, but I have one. So, if you need some measurements, let me know. If it does fit, you need the dizzy, the Igniter, and the harness with the connectors. The rest of the stuff you can use from your '76. The '79 ignition doesn't use a ballast resistor, so you need to bypass yours. Here's an old thread with an EN1 diagram, but it's the same for an EK1.

On the other hand, if you just want to get rid of the points, you can get a Pertronix ignition upgrade.

It's not necessary to get the dizzy recurved, but it will probably help performance-wise. I did mine, and it made a big difference in throttle response. The other good thing was my exhaust temperature dropped, so my header doesn't glow red anymore :). Dan

please can someone help me on this
I'm assuming ek1 would work I just want to double check being that his swap was for the cvcc civic not the accord

I tried doing a search for what dizzy I can swap in for my 76 accord but all the info seems to talk about the earlier civics not the accords
someone I was speaking with informed me a ek1 distributor should work and I just want to make sure. also would there be any other cars I could swap the dizzy into my ef1 motor to help out with getting rid of this points style ignition I have.
also what parts would I need to get from the "donor" car to get this setup to work and how hard would the swap be to do?

last question I have is would I need to get the dizzy recurved? if so how much would it be to have someone do it for me or is it simple enough to do on my own and how would I do it?
