There are no mount designs...everyone is custom one off, you will have to fabricate it all..

It's a 1.5 cvcc. The head has been rebuilt, the 5 sp trans has about 30,000 miles on it original. I found this cool guy who started his business with these hondas and he gave it to me. It had been sitting in his storage since 79. It has a brand new clutch, pressure plate, and throwout bearing. Th carb was rebuil by a kehil 3 brl specialist that the old guy new and recomended. The exhaust manifold has 30,000 on it as well, also in storage for 20 some odd years. This is a really strong motor. I am located in davis california. I am willing to transport about 2 hours outside of my area. If I was an stock restore fanatic this is the engine I would buy.

What transmission are you using? I am putting a turbo d16z6 into my 77wagon. Will the stock axels work in the trans? PS anyone that wants to buy a 5speed and rebuilt engine with less than 1000 miles on it make me a serious offer. Engine was rebuilt from bottom up to the carb

hey first gen civic think you could fab up another one off hand. Roughly. Looks nice I didnt realize that engine fit. thanks Mike
By Firstgencivic (Firstgencivic) (69.197.54.33) on Thursday, May 19, 2005 - 06:52 pm: |
The engine positions itself sideways with the drive shafts. You try to get it as level as possible by eye, and get the engine positioned in such a way that the drive shafts are as straight as possible in line with the engine, the less the angle, the better.

How did you guys go about leveling out the engine when you slid in the axles and tacked the mounts on. Also, how did you go about centering the engine and tranny so the axles fit prefect.??
I know the sxles flex around, but how much tolerance is there.
thanks
Joel

Yeah, it would be nice to see how each person fabricate their crossmember.

crossmember pics?
By Firstgencivic (Firstgencivic) (69.197.54.33) on Sunday, May 15, 2005 - 05:24 pm: |
Were using the stock axles. The driver side input shaft that goes in the tranny needs to be extended so it will lock. I had a drive shaft shop do the work for me.
As for the x-member,I will take some pics of it.

For the summer !!??
Whoa, I would hold off till fall or the car will be stuck on blocks for the summer. Just from my experience, nothing goes as quick as it should with these things
Nice swap though. Which notor is that one out of? I am lost as to Mo's, Peter's and this one. Are they all the same motor? My wife had a 1.6 EL and the motor looks like this one. Maybe in a couple of years I will go that route. These damn Neons and such are getting too quick.
By sdcvcc (68.111.234.166) on Monday, May 09, 2005 - 08:09 pm: |
About to do the same swap for the summer. Engine bay is almost prepped. What was your biggest challenge so far? How did you level out the engine so it lines up with the axles? Use a level?
Did you get custom axles made?
Looks sweet. Especially that stance.

Thanks!, The "bumpy stuff" in the engine compartment is a 'tintable truck bedliner' product which can be brushed, rolled or in my case, sprayed. Yes, I sprayed it my self in my gararge, and did everything else also , including making the custom mounts and front crossmember
