Yeah the early cars had no seals on the Exhaust valves. They started to come in the kits way back in the late 70's, we started to put them on then, and used the metal clad seals on the EB's, works fine that way.

It is a 1500. The seals are of the same design, intake and exhaust, but the exhaust seal has a washer inside that the seal will bottom out on, and it has the same clip on the bottom as the intake seal, and spring at the top were the seal rides on the stem. I have been driving it again, and it seems to be ok, still buring a little oil in the morning. I just have not seen a valve that did not have a seal before, and the book I have says nothing about it, it just says to install seals.

The exhaust valves do not have seals on the 1200.

I am putting valve stem seals on a 75 cvcc head while in the car. My question, there are no seals on the exhaust valves, but I was able to purchase a set, and there is no groove for them to click into. The intake seals have a machined land that they click into. Just wondering if anyone has seen this? The seals I have go over the stem, they just don't seem like they will stay there.
