I'm still interested, but the end of summer is gonna be crunch time for me to get ready for college. Anywhere in Oregon is ok for me, but I don't know any good dates at this point.

It's been a while so I thought I'd bring this thread up to the top.
Everyone still interested?
Any more thoughts on when & where we should meet?

the second gens can look good, taken in the right direction. seem like when people do restore them, they try to make them look like new hondas...
although, i'm not a purist by any means.
hey if anyone whats to show up in their old toyota, subaru, datsun, bmw 2002, or a host of other well designed, simple cars, i'd be stoked. keeping cars alive that no one cares about is why we are here.

I remember that t-shirt thread pretty vividly. I liked John Le's designs, but they seem to be more "skatey" than what most people like. Anything sounds good to me though.
No first gen for me unfortunately, but you guys might like my 2g...I definitely do

yes the leads are from Justin, much better than the lead ones I had before. I also got a distribution block and a new fuse to replace the old style stock one.
The trouble with velocity stacks/trumpets/air horns whatever you want to call them is they allow in the dust. In these cars they are at the back of the motor so I am not too worried about the big stuff but the dust would get in for sure which basically sand blasts the inside of the motor. Over time its not good. They sound great though!! I am looking for a good filter to strap over the end but have not found anything yet.
Drop me an email about the Dellorto intake, I'm curious

i'd like to see as many first gen civics as possible, but by all means come down in what you have if yours is not ready. first gen accords and preludes are welcome too.
By vccivic (24.85.232.159) on Thursday, May 26, 2005 - 09:31 am: |
kurt, are those the new battery leads from Justin?
they look great!
So are the stacks bad news? I couldn't read any reasons why there off really, other than mechanics said to?
BTW I sourced the intake for the dellorto setup we had talked about before.
Aryl, I like American Apperal and agree, the fit is great. I would pitch for something neat there.
As far as hitting the coast, hopefully D and I will make it down, no promise's as our first gen has just started the re-build. But our 82 is running fine...

Kurt... How come Your Dist. is on the passenger side?
By Kurt (205.250.112.91) on Thursday, May 26, 2005 - 07:29 am: |
yes valve cover was chromed, the rest is just polished.
By aryl (216.99.194.25) on Thursday, May 26, 2005 - 12:51 am: |
kurt, did you get your valve cover chromed?
that is a very nice setup you got there...
By Kurt (205.250.112.91) on Wednesday, May 25, 2005 - 11:00 pm: |
I'm running air filters now. Every mechanic I ran into gave me crap so I figured it was a good idea. I just ran the stacks for shows now and hopefully the drag strip later this summer.

i want to make two. first is shrecks green civic picture. there was a heated thread a couple months back concerning this. i also have a bit simpler design idea.
the t-shirts i'm going to use are a little spendier than most, so mabey i will get one of both made and people can request sizes.
heres a link: http://www.americanapparel.net/mission/
overall, i just like the shirts because they last and fit really good.
i will post pictures of both designs and t-shirt colors that will go well with them.
if anyone wants to contact me directly, get my email from the author link.

What are you thinking for a t-shirt design? Thanks for workin' on this, by the way.
By aryl (216.99.194.69) on Wednesday, May 25, 2005 - 05:00 pm: |
keep in mind, whichever spot will cost us a little money, but it shouldn't be much spread out.
i am going to try to make up t-shirts. no dates or anything. just simple and stylin'. american apparel.

Upper Oregon is much easier for the B.C. guys, but if you want something lower, Loeb Park is a nice place. It's 10 minutes inland from Brookings on the Chetco River and about an hour away from Stout Grove in the redwoods, but Stout Grove road is dusty and will REQUIRE air filters(heads up for kurt). It's a beautiful area w/ generally good weather and 15ft wide trees. The beach is more rocky and rustic than up north.
-If you want some cool dunes and nice car photography, Florence is 1:15 drive from Eugene on a well developed highway. The beaches are flat, and the most interesting formations are basically just clumps of grass
Nice place though.
-Up north(tillamook forest area) is wetter, and very green. Again, some nice dunes plus some cool rainforest areas. This would be my second choice, next to Loeb Park.
-I wouldn't worry much about sand, as the roads are kept pretty clean, but avoid the dirt roads if you care about your air intake or paint. Just something to think about for you guys. Hope it helps,
Jarvis

i would like the BC kids to come if possible. i really want to see kurts car, as he wasn't at the last one. i spent alot of time at bar veiw jetty as a child(just north of tillamook). right next to the beach. large group spots. hiking. electrical hookups, but still trees seperating the sites. lots of back roads around there too. probably not quite as awesome as the redwoods, but i had alot of fun there.
i will need to know very soon where the concensus is at. reservations will be filling up quick.
keep 'em coming.

I'm partial to the lower half and the redwoods, but that's where I spent most of my time growing up, so I'm a little biased

six. nice. i think the right place on the coast is alot more inviting that in a bigger city.
i say we should make it an overnighter. show up on a saturday afternoon. leave whenever, the next morning. any have any ideas on where? cape lookout is nice. we may want something a little more south. florence. thats a straight shot west from eugene. mid august seems to be the target time frame.
ideas???

mid august will work, the beginning and end are both tied up. not really sure what i'll be driving then, probably my 83 but we'll see.

mid august is good for me.. plus I should have a lot healthier car by then.. middle of summer drives in portland or the coast would be fun.. I'll probably just take he 101 all the way down the scenic route.. that centralia to portland leg of the trip takes forever..

oh yeah, I'm in. I'm moving up to corvallis in late august/early september for school, so before then should be good. Maybe I can get my girlfriend to come along so she'll finally believe that I'm not the only fanatic of these things

I'm ready for another Oregon meet! I'm in Portland too. I think August would be a good time - warm, dry, before the kids start school.
By Aryl (Aryl) (216.99.194.78) on Friday, May 20, 2005 - 10:37 am: |
is anyone interested in a meet this summer in oregon somewhere? i know these threads have gone no where a couple times, but i thought i see if there was any interest. i'm in portland. that won't stop me making a drive. although, up here i think washington park/hoyt arboritum would be stellar setting. lots of parking, trees, and open areas for a BBQ or something. eugene would be fine, but i don't know eugene at all. oregon has some magnificent places. why not the coast somewhere? we don't have to stay quite so tied to I-5. off the freeway in most places, the coast is within an hour and a half.
i'm thinking august to seperate ourselves from the canadians deal and so i can get my car running well/legal.
thanks for reading,
david
