I have found a solution to my woes, exactly what I needed a 1200 and a 5 speed! I knew the board would come through!
I'd like to thank everyone who responded to my plea and I would also like to thank the list and Richard Nasar (be expecting a check from me).
I'm sure to have a few q's along the way, so I'll try to keep everyone updated.
Until then, anyone want a free '78 cvcc and hondamatic? Seriously!!! Please take it!
Arthur
Bruce: Shoot me an email, there are some parts I'd like to take off your hands.

Thanks for the replies guys, I'll get back to both of you individually via email.
Don, basicly the reason that I'm not converting the beast to a later model engine is lack of time. Really I just need to get this thing under it's own power.
By next summer I'll be familiar with engine, have all the parts I need to do an efi conversion, and will have had the time to plan it all out and get it over with. Then maybe a few years down the road I'll drop in something new. For now I just want to keep this a weekend project.
Don, send me an email so we can chat privately.

Got a 78 1200 engine with weber carb and header, rest is stock, has 50,000 original on it. Matted to a 5 spd trans from a 1980 1300, its supposed to be the closet ratio stock 5 spd, the GJxxx just do some research or searching and you will read all about the trans. New clutch everything is fine and maintained good. Im not into pulling it and shipping it right now. If you want it, come with tools and yank it. Hear it run too. We can talk price if you are interested. Im in NW TN, selling cause Im getting one with a D16 and Id like to keep the rest of th car for parts.

I have a eb3 engine that was my spare for my race car. The engine ran and was rebuilt with all new parts as my car was sponsored by Hopkins Honda in CA. I took it out because Bryan built me a more powerful engine, it ran great up till the moment I took it out.
The engine is an IT engine... blue printed but with increased compression (9.1) and a ported head but nothing too wild. Poping the valve cover reveals nothing like you will find on a typical rebuild, new cam, new rocker new springs, new honda pistions etc were used. Even after all the races its sparkly clean inside. I had a list of parts that went in to the engine and 90% were new from Honda. The bad news if any is it was used as a race engine for three years,(very low mileage but the miles it does have are hell ) so I would have it freshed (pull it appart and take a look at the bearings and have a valve job done) but could be run as is. Its siting on a pallet in my garage. Price is 300 plus freight If you priced out the parts then you will see its a steal.
That said if your doing an efi swap why not start with a latter model engine? I have seen some SHOC vtecs stuffed into cvccs and they are SWEET! and you could probably source one within 50 miles!
The technology that is built into the latter engines is very very good a twenty year + old engine does not have the same advantages.

Just trying to keep this thread active. These cars are REALLY hard to find in this area. Is there anyone around Rockford or Chicago or even Madison or Milwaukee that has a 1st gen? Most of the guys on the board seem to be on the west cost or in Canada.
I really need to get this car going. The CVCC that is in there just doesn't seem to be worth my time. The rings are bad. It need a valve job, the carb is shot, the list goes on... I am going to do an efi conversion next year and would perfer not to reinvent the wheel, so just one combustion chamber please.
So does anyone in my area (within 300 miles of Rockford, IL) have an engine I can work with since NO ONE wants to ship? I'd pefer that it be complete. I don't even care if it is an eb3. I could be an eb2 as long as it would bolt up. I'll do the trans swap later, but I gotta get this going.
Bruce: Send me an email. I'd like to know what you want for a back seat, doesn't matter which color, that pedal assembly and the trans. Does the trans work alright?
Common people, this is the 1200 board! where's all the 1200s?
Thanks again... Arthur

I am in southern Illinois, I have a new clutch plate/pressure plate, also have a rebuilt cvcc motor here, I ran it about 2 yrs, dropped in an EK1, so the motor is good, did not burn any oil, ran synthetic blend in it all the time. yes I still have some back seats here.

bruce, you're in Marion right? If so you've seen this car; I've been out to your place. Do you still have those back seats? I used to live in Carbondale.

jms, what do you have exactly? Email me with details and prices. Will you freight?
bruce, where are you at in Illinois? I have the cvcc for this car, but it needs to be gone through (bad rings). I will be adding fuel injection next year, so I think I'm gonna be sticking to something non-cvcc. If I can't come up with anything viable with a 5 speed, I'll consider the 4sp that you have. What shape is it in? will it need a new clutch? I am interested in the pedal assembly.
Thanks guys hope to hear back from you soon. I really want to get things going on this quick, so if there is anyone near me (I live in the Rockford area) give me a buzz.

Howdy All! I'm in need of a drive train for my 78 cvcc hondamatic. I want to get this thing on the road as soon as possible. It'll be my work car, so I'd like to get the best gas mileage out of it. I need a running or rebuildable 1200 EB3 and matching 5sp manual AND clutch pedal assy. Help me get another 1st gen back on the road!
