sdcvcc, here's the link to the weekend photos of the new air dam I got from you, my girlfriend wanted to pose, so you'll have to put up with her posing next to it. I'm looking forward for the last Thrusday of July.

:)
Just click on memeber's cars and select who's page you wanna see.

By Vulcan (213.122.5.75) on Wednesday, July 06, 2005 - 01:43 pm:

Yo, sdcvcc!

Have you thought about trying to replicate the 'sport' wing mirrors? Not the little round JDM ones but the bigger North American torpedo jobbies?

Just a thought there.

By jms (143.79.13.6) on Wednesday, July 06, 2005 - 01:21 pm:

knifeboy thanks-what is the link to civic77?

By DaRk (66.50.181.42) on Wednesday, July 06, 2005 - 12:13 am:

Wilson's car looks "wierd" with that "champagne" qtr panel thing he did :P , but hey... It's comong together, ... Keep it up. BTW the grille looks nice too :)

By sdcvcc (68.111.234.166) on Wednesday, July 06, 2005 - 12:11 am:

Alright. I will be starting the mold for CVCC airdams. The plug I have is fiberglass so hopefully it fits good already.
thanks again to Jordan.

By Knifeboy (154.20.234.195) on Tuesday, July 05, 2005 - 10:53 pm:

JMS, that's Wilson's car. He's got more pics in his gallery on civic77. :)

By jms (68.19.246.231) on Tuesday, July 05, 2005 - 06:49 pm:

Nathan where is that civic with the yellow end cap on the qtr panel thats sweet?

By sdcvcc (68.111.234.166) on Sunday, July 03, 2005 - 09:54 am:

Glad you like it. Make sure to use some plastic washers on the backside of the part as well as the front side. They will protect the holes from being ruined. Happy Independence day to everyone, thankyou for our continued freedom to anyone who is in the military.

By sonymmx200@aol.com (172.175.129.210) on Sunday, July 03, 2005 - 12:15 am:

I got the air dam primed and painted. Looks sweet on my car. Perfect fit also. I'll post photos of the completed project this 4th of July week. Thanks again for making such a hard item to get.

By sonymmx200@aol.com (172.162.234.214) on Friday, July 01, 2005 - 06:13 pm:

sdcvcc, I lost your number, when can I get with you regarding your project in the hanger?
Roger

By sonymmx200@aol.com (208.54.15.129) on Wednesday, June 22, 2005 - 02:59 pm:

sdcvcc,
it was a real pleasure to meet you. I'm very excited about the air dam I purchased from you. I'm going to paint it this week and install it this weekend. It's sure build alot better and thicker than that flimsy junk from Kamei. I sure hope you can build other parts for the Civic such as Hoods, rear wings, some side skirts would be bitchin. Thanks again for the quality product and I sure hope all the other Civic owners take advantage of your talents.

Roger

Oh yeah, I'm also very interested in your project, when can I stop in to see it in person?

By sdcvcc (68.111.234.166) on Tuesday, June 21, 2005 - 05:19 pm:

Hye Killer B. Where did you get it? I haven't seen any at the junkyards. I actually need one for my 78 Corolla. And I would like to make a mold from one.
thanks

Has anyone tried a Duckbill from a Rabbit? http://www.ngpracing.com/gallery/photos/Uploads02/rabbit02.jpg

I just put one on my GTI and I think with a little modification it could work on a Civic. Great thing is they are cheap ($50.00), plentiful, and come in two pieces.

By DaRk (66.50.181.84) on Monday, June 20, 2005 - 08:35 pm:

Hey Dave , it's on a CRX :)

By Jonathan (12.98.156.194) on Monday, June 20, 2005 - 08:21 am:

Actually, a wing adds downforce to a car, a spoiler does more to counteract lift by "spoiling" the flow off the rear of the vehicle.

If you're up for a challenge, I've got a 4-speed floor console with the roll top door you can try to make copies of. I think it's a bit more difficult of a project than the airdams though.

You might see an interest in fiberglass bumpers from the racing crowd (especially the '73 type), and possibly a bit of interest in some tastefully done flares.

One thing I'd love to have but haven't seen would be a hard tonneau cover for the trunk area in the hatchbacks. The factory covers are pretty flimsy, and rather rare too. Something that will hide what's in the trunk, and blends well with the rest of the interior may be a hit, but it will mean a good bit of custom work. I'd be first in line to buy one of these as long as the price was something in my budget.

By Dave (216.209.113.135) on Monday, June 20, 2005 - 03:43 am:

Hey Dark what kind of car is that on?

By Colza (Colza) (210.54.66.26) on Monday, June 20, 2005 - 03:36 am:

Personal oppion is that all spoilers are crap. A spoiler exists for one purpose, to add downforce on a race car. No cosmetic spoilers do anything of the sort.

Hehehe, but dont listen to me =P i just whinge too much.

sdcvcc: are you basing the flares on a CVCC or on a 1200?

By DaRk (66.50.181.135) on Sunday, June 19, 2005 - 10:18 pm:

CRXspoiler I like how it looks , looks clean and small. :) What do you guys think?

By DaRk (66.50.181.135) on Sunday, June 19, 2005 - 10:07 pm:

SDCVCC , I think the spoon style spoiler/visor looks nice..though it'll look better on our civics if it were a bit shorter. I like the one that they sell for the 87-91 CRX...Look... :)

By sdcvcc (68.111.234.166) on Sunday, June 19, 2005 - 08:16 pm:

spoon spoiler

By sdcvcc (68.111.234.166) on Sunday, June 19, 2005 - 08:15 pm:

You guys are funny. I do have 2 available, they will be paint prepped by Wednesday.
I have stared on some design drawings in Photoshop for a widebody or flare set with integrated rockers. I wont start anything else until I have 10 airdams prepped and ready to ship. What about a Spoon style spoiler? for the rear of the roof. I think those look good on the later model civs.
And what hood would be best to duplicate, year-models?

I agree, go for the air dams, it's the best selling and I would take two from you if you have them now. I'm in Oceanside, North San Diego, CA Are you in Southern California? I can pick them up if you don't mind.

By felipe casanova (200.74.71.122) on Wednesday, June 15, 2005 - 02:33 pm:

i think that airdamns will sell pretty good.

By nathan (24.85.232.159) on Wednesday, June 15, 2005 - 10:38 am:

anyway, you can see how some look so clean, smooth, and others just look very "off".

before you make the huge mugan wing...I would check to see if that is popular or not...personally i think that is a very ricer piece, like the modern big wings people do...that is only my opinion though...

i think we all agree hoods would be nice, rabbit style flares...and or wide body kits. Front and rear flares would look great with a running board and something to push the bottom quater out on the door.

Because as you see a lot of the old fender flares didn't take the door into the design, so it draws your eye negetively to the overall design. As well they didn't take into account the bumpers very well...so it looks...awekward (much like my spelling...)

I am currently going through all these issue's with my 75 (blue car photo's below) as it had custom flares, running board and mud flaps welded on...so I have invested a lot of research into images etc...i will share them how about..

SDCVCC, I think we all appreciate what you are doing. I really think it's great that you have asked for opinions...

By sdcvcc (68.111.234.166) on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 - 11:29 pm:

Well, I am selling my 75 since I had to choose between it and having my side business. But, I have been wanting to help out the older import cars by making hard to find or never made parts. I have 2 airdams available to ship next monday.
I will be doing a run of 10 total for now, all primered and prepped for paint when shipped.

By Kyle Thomson (24.83.30.135) on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 - 10:51 pm:

See I don't see my civic as a business, to me its a hobby, and if I can help people who share my hobby, I will. But with that said, your prices seem fair, so I'm not going to complain. Are you planning on doing a run of those air dams? or are you going to wait till people want them to make them up?

By sdcvcc (68.111.234.166) on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 - 09:17 pm:

Well. Usually when you run a business you try to make some kind of profit. If I dont make profit, then its not actually worth it to make parts. I am not going to get rich, and I am not trying to make a killing.

I have an hourly rate I go by. Around 30 US Dollars. I multiply the time it takes to make a part by that amount. For example, my first part, the airdams take 3 hours from begin to finish. Then there is the materials. I happen to be using higher end materials on these, around 30 US Dollars each part. That is roughly 120 US Dollars per part. I am selling the parts for $100 plus shipping.

In the case of hoods, most companies cheat and use the cheapest materials such as fiberglass mat and general purpose laminating resins. And worse yet, they are made with a minimal amount of materials. Carbon fiber hoods usually consist of one layer carbon fiber and a few layers of cheap fiberglass. The gelcoat surfaces are seldom UV protected. I would hope to make stock style hoods, very light weight for around 300. Some with scoops or vents slightly more.

By Kyle Thomson (24.83.30.135) on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 - 08:22 pm:

Whats your version of affordable? and how much do you want for the cvcc air dams? I'm sure there are a number of people who would buy them (myself included) but you seem to only want to do things if you make a profit on them, so I'm a little worried about the price

By sdcvcc (68.111.234.166) on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 - 07:46 pm:

What about hoods? At least in fiberglass. I can make them very affordable, and maybe try them in carbon fiber, although I just dont see too much CF lookin good on the 1G's.
I think a Mugen style spoiler would be very worth the effort even if a bunch arent sold right away. I can just use reference and make my own from scratch. I have already started on some deisngs for some mild flares. Thanks for all the input thus far.

By Don (63.224.193.117) on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 - 05:01 pm:

Jackson Racing did the molds for the mild flares shown on DR Zooms Civic site and never sold one set...threw the molds away in the dumpster, years back ARRRGH so anybody's guarantee is worth nothing unless they are prepared to buy ten of ... It would be cool and I hope it gets done but lets not mislead someone into investing their hard earned time and money as history of the early civic board speaks other wise. I do think that one or two of something per year may get sold, as a minimum (hopefully more)so in 5-10 you would get your investment back :)

By jms (143.79.13.6) on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 - 09:54 am:

guarantee you would sell:

hoods

air dams

lamb desing rear spoilers

flares

center consoles

all if you could get one to copy of course

if no one here youd get your $ on ebay easy, those things are always selling there, let me place my order for a hood, console and rear spoiler.

By nathan (24.85.232.159) on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 - 08:58 am:

Don has a good point..long term you'll sell a lot, but finding runs on custom upgrades...may not draw a lot of people. Currently there are always the airdams on ebay, but there a rip off, so if you had something more realistic for what it is, you'd probably sell a ton....

By Colza (Colza) (219.88.32.20) on Monday, June 13, 2005 - 09:36 pm:

I think some moderate to big fender flares will have good response from people. Many people ask for them, and it would be nice to have something made for the civic ratehr that just modfied like the Rabbit flares.

AND it should be possible to make them fit CVCC's and 1200's

=)

Id be in on those!

By sdcvcc (68.111.234.166) on Monday, June 13, 2005 - 06:37 pm:

well. maybe I shall just wait for a month or so and see what the response is. Just have to look at another market of cars. Under 75 shipped would be no profit for me, I might break even. I dont know aht small part that would be anyways. No big deal, lots of options.

By Don (63.135.203.86) on Monday, June 13, 2005 - 05:27 pm:

If at least 8-10 people would want a.... That is the problem the are a few people that want and even few pay :). Not to give up hope though,it was done once with the S&S run but never repeated. Your best bet would probably be something under 75 bucks shipped and have an almost generic appeal

By nathan (24.85.232.159) on Monday, June 13, 2005 - 09:06 am:

Lamb designs kit would be nice, to fill the license plate area and have aftermarket bumpers....I would be into that.

By Colza (Colza) (219.88.58.237) on Saturday, June 11, 2005 - 09:44 pm:

I have a front sorted fro my car, but i will be on the look out for side skirts or fender flares. Ill keep watching this space =)

By sdcvcc (68.111.234.166) on Friday, June 10, 2005 - 08:12 pm:

If at least 8-10 people would want a Mugen anything, then I will do parts. Also thinking about Lamb designs old spoiler and kit parts which I would have to rebuild from scratch of course, but worth it. That lower look would be great to do, just have to find one. The way parts go, if you lend me a part to mold from then your part is free, and I send back the original with it.

As for pricing just email me:

Ya know, I MAY be able to make a few phone calls and borrow one of those big wings that they used to make for the 1st gens. I think it was by Mugen? If there's interest, I'll see what I can do.

Rabbit flares are a definite. Now should I mold them onto my civic first and then make them in that shape, or would you rather have them raw so you can trim them to fit and mold them? Of course the ones that are flush fit would cost a bit more. Either way is fine with me.

Do you have a picture of the lower lip for the 2G?

As for widebody, I dont think the square flares look good. Something more along these lines, or at least IMSA, which I can redo what jackson racing produced before.

1982 civic, lower front lip repo for s-type.
First gen rabbit flares would be easy and nice upgrade.
Custom bumper would be nice. Like some of the ones on

I am not sure what you have on your car. But I know my 75 does not have anything there. Just the lower valance thing. So I would say it goes below what you have. I am selling one of the ones in the picture if you are interested. Email me so I can get a shipping price.

i'm quite interested in one when you have them ready. just so i have some clarification, does the CVCC airdam replace the lower airdam type thing already on the car or does it go below it? anyhow, the pictures look good.

By sdcvcc (68.111.234.166) on Wednesday, June 08, 2005 - 09:29 pm:

Fiberglass airdams available now for 78/79 and other years models. I just have the one mold done for now. Uploaded some pictures. Follow the link. They are Kamei replica parts. I use fiberglass cloth as opposed to cheap/weak mat, and high grade epoxy as opposed to cheap polyester resin. So far I have just completed 2 test parts. One is for Jon Jorda who loaned me the Kamei. The other is a B part and discounted. It is structurally fine, but slightly thinner than my final pieces will be. Trying to keep the price low, shipping will be $25-35 I think.

I am also needing ideas and loaner parts for other 1G and 2G reproduction parts. Please list your ideas here. I would like to get 2 or 3 more parts into production for the summer. They have to be parts that will be worth my time to do. Selling at least 10 justifies the time put into the setup. I am considering high quality hoods, and maybe carbon ones as well. Suggestons are appreciated. What about a spoiler of some type? Or widebody flares? Rabbit style flares?
