well 74mm was the largest possible as stated in the archives. 73mm would probably be better though just to have that extra meat for stress...hmmmm.

One mm over(73mm) was the maximum factory available from Honda...and they are not cheap.

I won some 72mm 78 GL1000 pistons on ebay. Only thing is that they are 72mm! If I'm rebuilding I'll need larger than 72mm. would the best bet be to send these pistons to venolia, and tell them to make the exact same but in 74mm and have the pin bosses opened up abit?

I've done the reasearch but JUST to make sure...
is it only the '79 GL1000 pistons that will fit the EN1 from the goldwing's? Any other years? I'm looking for 74mm too, or do they only come 72mm with 0.050 over?
And there won't be any clearancing issues with the valves having a colt cam?
