thanks for the photo dark. it wasnt really what i was expecting. when you said you had the key with honda on it i thought it was going to be in the " honda" typography. once again ive learnt of another alternative.

thats funny I just did the same thing with my screws on my ignition when fixing my horn about 2 weeks ago. Those damn things like to loosen off and were driving me nuts. Few lines with the hack saw and a slotted screw driver gets em nice and tight.

A hammer and a center punch work well also for removing the bolts, they can then be reused or replaced.

Actually just take a hack saw and put a slot thru the bracket and screw, you can then undo it You can reuse the screw or buy new break away bolts from the dealer..

The ignition is retained by two shear screws, so you'd have to drill it off. then helicoil it romethin to use new screws.

actually, whilst im thinking about it..if i find an original key at a wreckers, in the ignition, whats stopping me removing the whole barrel and transplanting it into my car.does that sound extreme?

My Key is a complete metal one and it says HONDA inside a Rectangel in the center

It is possible but rare. Keep your eye on ebay with the rest of us. You are however able to get the aftermarket ilco key (HD70U-P) which looks identical but no "HONDA" in the plastic on ebay quite often.
Cheers.

hey civic fans. ive recently purchased a 1st gen 1978 2dr eb 1200, but the owner that sold it to me did not have an original key. the key i got was just a metal key,and does not have the black plastic top with honda etched into it. would anyone know is it possible to score a blank?
