I did that same thing with my Civic S striping, I scanned it before putting it on the car, so that it is reproducable by any shop.
they cost me about 150 euro's (120 dollar) per side

Colin:
there is a guy in / near Sudbury who seems to have a lot of old OEM RARE Honda stuff.
Way back ... like 3 or 4 years ago, I spoke to him about an am/fm radio.
He mentioned then that he had an original set of Special X decals for both the passenger and the driver's side, still in the Honda bag.
I will see if I can dig up a phone number from my old computer. If he won't sell them, maybe he would be willing to let you scan them and have a company create one of those "car wrap" type decals just for the special x strips.

and I quote: "Unfortunately these have to printed on a Soljet printer. They make exterior decals, ours are inkjet printers and the decal will only last a couple of weeks in the weather."
Sorry I couldn't help out...

my dad is in the sign industry, I will check if he could you up with some new decals.
Otherwise the car does look great, nice work with the polish and wax. The car just looks so good...what a great score
If you like, I also have oneshot paint for pinstripe and some nice small brush's if you want to re-do the black on the chrome bumper area, and re-do the red around the H on the grill. I would love to have a hand on that lovely car

No two tone, it looks either grey or black depending on the light, the colour code is B14M, and it is called Inverness blue/black metallic.
The decals are vynil(?) factory applied, I checked today to see if by chance I could still get them from Honda, no such luck, good thing too, they are $210.00 PER SIDE!!!
I think I will see if the graphics shop can make a duplicate set for me.

Is that a 2tone paint scheme I see? I always thought they were all black, but your first pic looks like its a dark grey on the sides and the roof? what kind of material is the banner(?) on the side, is it just vinyl? and did they clear over it or is it just stuck on
Looks like it was kept in good all original condition, still has the red lettered mudflaps, guages, the stylish interior =)

Here are some photos I took of it the Special X this morning after a good power buff and wax, I was quite impressed at how well the paint came back to life.

Hey all,
My vintage Honda family is now complete. I have been on the hunt for rare and unusual Hondas for years.
I drove home last night the rarest of all 1200 Civics (in North America anyway!) a 79 Civic Special X. 112,000 original km's, 5 speed, reasonably clean all around with minimal rust. Interior is dirty but has no rips or tears in the materials, the carpet however has not faired too well over the years, and needs to be replaced.
Overall, a very cool little car to drive, it feels far more zippy than any of the CVCC's I have owned.
Here is a link to some pictures of it:
