hey. its brad again. im off to but a set of 1979 accord rims. im have a similar mindset when it comes to making the car look a little snazzier. i will do it , but i dont want to scrifice its 70s charm.
when i bought the car, it had recently had a transmission fix. i bought the car from a 23 year old woman, who had ownedit for about 12 months to two years, so i didnt know its history prior to her.
any way, it cost me 1200 dollars australian. then about 3 months ago, the transmission died whilst on a driving holidaying in tasmania. the good guys down at automotive automatics in hobart tried their best to get my car back on the road, but it still took a week. point of the story is, my story is almost the opposite of yours, but i keep coming back for more from this car...its of the treat em mean..keep em keen kind of car!
once i get some photos into a digital camera, i will post. its had a rough life, but i feel confident now that its with me, its life is just getting easier!

Thanks for the "PROPS"! This is the best Wheel story in the world! I bought my civic from the original owner who had it stored in her garage for 23 years! Obviously the regular steel rims came with it. I bought it late last year and only drove it for a few weeks before I stored it for 7 months to protect it from the winter. I took it out in May and the first thing I wanted to do was get some new rims but keep the integrity of the car. I am so new at this car thing that I didn't understand the 4 bolt 120mm thing and so when I figured that out I spent 2 weeks solid on the phone and on the web searching for rims. Of course I couldn't find any. And when I did they were ugly or really stupid exspensive and to pay for shipping sucked. I was at church 3 weeks ago and was discussing my delima to my freinds and family when my uncle said "Cam, I use to own a 77 civic and I had some really nice rims for it. Maybe call your Grandpa to see if there still around at his house". So I Immediatley called my grandpa and he said "I threw a whole bunch of junk out the back of the property in the gravel pit a few years ago. If you're lucky, you can look around there" So I went warp speed out to my grandpa's house and drove 35 acres to the back of his property and went down in the gravel pit. I see a golf cart, i see junk, i see a big wooden box, i open the box, BOOM - 4 rims that have my name on them!!!! I shined them up, they are 14" rims made by TRX. I'm an insurance broker and so I called a tire store that I insure and they had 5 TRX tires left. They gave me all 5 for $150 installed. (5th for back-up of course).

Cool story eh! I just love them and it still keeps the integrity of the car which is important to me.

In regards to your other questions. The car is completley original. No spraying and no lowering at all. I bought it with the original 19,000 kms on it. It is absolutley mint.

Thanks for asking and i'd love to see some pictures of your car! go to www.civic77.com and look under members cars and look under Cam Guthrie for further pictures of my car!

Talk to you later!,

Cam

So you wanna buy it eh...?? I would entertain offers i guess. Kinda hard to sell it after I won on the weekend though. Did you see that guy from Quebec selling his 77 Civic for $10,500. That seems high especially when it has twice the kilometers on it that mine does. Is there a way for me to get my own members page to post a whole bunch of pictures of my ride?? Anyways, I appreciate the support!

Congrats :)
What a feeling! Isn't it great!

By Ed (216.13.17.194) on Monday, June 20, 2005 - 07:47 am:

If and when you sell the car....

:-)

I want it.

email me.

I am in Oshawa, Ont. GM capital of Canada. Unfortunately, because it is a GM town... they took a look at my IMPORT civic, and wouldn't let me enter for the past 2 years. And it had nothing to do with the 25 years or older rule, because it is a 76 civic !!

Thanks
Ed

it also has to be under 100kb, and in jpg format (I think another format works, but I don't remember it)

I just learned how to do pictures myself, it is very easy. Type the following exactly, and then hit preview. 1, make sure you leave a space between the {}.
After it goes to the preview page, make sure it says my image on the page with your text. Now hit post message. A new screen will appear, and it will have a option for finding your picture. Once you select your pic, just hit upload, and there you go.

Hope this helps.

Hi everyone! I'm so excited and I just have to share it with you! I decided to enter the 10th annual Guelph, Ontario Auto Fest today. It was the first show I ever entered. There were 400 cars and over 10,000 people came by. I just entered for the heck of it! Anyways they picked my car as best in show for the 1970's class. There were over 100 cars in that category alone. So I'm at the awards ceremony and they call my name for my 1977 Honda Civic. I could not beleive it! I don't know how to post pictures or I would (maybe someone could help me?) I'm just so stoked! Have a good one everyone!
